Ingredients:

  • 2 cups half-and-half
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 whole vanilla bean, split lengthwise and scraped
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Combine the half-and-half and granulated sugar in a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
  2. Scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean and add both the seeds and the empty pod to the pot.
  3. Stir constantly with a whisk until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture is steaming, ensuring it does not reach a rolling boil.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Remove the vanilla bean pod and discard.
  6. Allow the creamer to cool for 5 minutes until it stops steaming heavily.
  7. Pour it into a glass mason jar.
  8. Seal the lid tightly and place in the refrigerator to chill and thicken.
