Ingredients:
- 1 lb lean ground beef (90/10)
- 0.5 yellow onion, finely diced
- 0.5 green bell pepper, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 0.75 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp yellow mustard
- 0.5 tsp smoked paprika
- 12 count Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 7 slices sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 0.5 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp everything bagel seasoning
- 0.25 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp black pepper
Instructions:
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef while breaking it into small crumbles. Add the diced onions and peppers and sauté for 4-5 minutes until translucent. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the minced garlic, ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, and spices. Simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce is thick and glossy.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the entire block of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally and place the bottom half in a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Layer half of the cheese slices across the bottom buns. Spread the meat mixture evenly over the cheese, then top with the remaining cheese slices.
- Place the top half of the rolls over the meat. Whisk together melted butter, garlic powder, and seasoning, then brush over the tops. Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes, then remove foil and bake for another 5 minutes until golden.
