Ingredients:
- 29 oz canned sliced peaches in heavy syrup
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Pour the entire can of sliced peaches, including the syrup, into a 9x9 inch baking dish.
- Stir in the lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg until the syrup is fragrant and the peaches are evenly coated.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Pour in the milk and melted butter, whisking until the batter is smooth and creamy.
- Pour the batter evenly over the top of the peaches without stirring them together.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes until the edges are bubbling and the top is a deep mahogany-colored golden crust.
