Ingredients:
- 2 cups water
- 3 tbsp strong black tea (Assam or Thai Tea Mix)
- 2 whole star anise pods
- 1 cinnamon stick (approx. 3 inches)
- 3 cardamom pods, crushed
- 1/4 tsp ground turmeric
- 3 tbsp sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 cup evaporated milk
Instructions:
- Place the water, star anise, cinnamon stick, and crushed cardamom pods in a small saucepan. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes to allow the spices to release their essential oils.
- Remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the black tea and turmeric. Let the mixture steep for 5 minutes. Strain the tea through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a pitcher, discarding the solids.
- While the tea is still hot, whisk in the sweetened condensed milk until fully dissolved and smooth.
- Fill two tall glasses to the brim with ice. Pour the sweetened tea over the ice, filling the glass about 3/4 of the way.
- Slowly pour the evaporated milk over the top to create a marbled effect.
