Warning: This article contains discussion of rape which some readers may find distressing.
Jay-Z is now launching a lawsuit against his accuser and her lawyers after they dropped their case against him.
A woman, who has so far remained anonymous, last year accused hip-hop star Jay-Z of raping her when she was 13.
Plaintiff Jane Doe alleged that Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, carried out the act on her at an afterparty for the MTV Video Music Awards back in 2000.
She also claimed that Diddy, real name Sean Combs, also drugged her and raped her.
The lawsuit was initially filed in October against Combs before adding Jay-Z’s name in December. Jay-Z and his legal team have repeatedly denied this.

At the time, the artist released a heated statement, which reads in part: “My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee.
“What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle.
“No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!!”
The accusations against Jay-Z have since been dropped but the rapper has proceeded with a lawsuit of his own following this news.
On Monday (March 3) Carter filed a lawsuit against the anonymous woman in Alabama, where she lives, as well as her lawyers, Tony Buzbee and David Fortney.
Carter’s lawsuit claims that the woman admitted to his representatives that she had made up the story.
Carter’s lawyers noted the woman has ‘voluntarily admitted directly to representatives of Mr. Carter that the story brought before the world in court and on global television was just that: a false, malicious story.’
The lawsuit also quotes Jane Doe as saying that her lawyer Buzbee had pushed her toward ‘going forward with the false story against Mr. Carter.’

However, it does not clearly outline how or why the plaintiff made that admission nor who she said this to, according to a report by the New York Times.
In his own statement since the lawsuit was filed, Buzbee has said Jay-Z’s suit has ‘no legal merit’ and argues the woman still stands by her account of what happened.
He said: “After speaking with Jane Doe today, it appears that the quotes attributed to her in the lawsuit are completely made up, or they spoke to someone who isn’t Jane Doe.
“This is just another attempt to intimidate and bully this poor woman that we will deal with in due course. We won’t be bullied or intimidated by frivolous cases.”

In one evening Jay-Z was reportedly able to rack up quite a large bill, but it’s what he left as a tip that got people talking.
Back in 2018 the billionaire went out to celebrate a friend’s birthday in New York. Sounds normal enough.
The rapper and his friends were believed to be celebrating Juan “OG” Perez, the president of Roc Nation Sports, birthday.
The night went as you would expect. The group went out for dinner in Manhattan reportedly costing $13,000 – before heading to a bar with a cool $9,000.
Considering Jay-Z is a billionaire that isn’t much more than pocket change for the star, let’s be honest.
It was when the group allegedly racked up a Playroom tab of $91,135 for a few bottles of Ace of Spades Champagne that raised a some eyebrows on social media.

The impressive bar bill also included a $11,000 (£7,844) tip for the waiting staff in the New York hotspot, but some users on X weren’t happy.
Some people questioned with such a large bill why the rapper and group didn’t tip 20 percent, again igniting the tipping war debate online.
“Yeah, Jay-Z left a 11,000$ tip on a 80,000$ tab. That’s not even 15%,” one user wrote.
“Definitely don’t go out if you don’t tip. We tip OUT to the kitchen and full time hours is usually about 22 hours a week. That s*** is NOT enough to support myself so I depend on tips,” said another.
“If Jay Z is only tipping 15% I’ll never have enough money to tip 18-20%,” a third wrote.
However, there were many who were stunned that people were complaining about such a hefty tip because of the percentage.
“The world we live in, where a waitress gets an $11,000 tip and it’s frowned upon because of the % of the tip. Gotta love it! smh,” one bemused X user wrote.

“Y’all are petty asf. The man got a 11000 tip for a nights work. Talking aboutJ didn’t give15% tip. Mf don’t have to tip foh,” another commented.
“Waitress got 11k for bringing out 6 bottles, of which you won’t see a penny and you’re mad? Girl, go be mad at your man picking his nose at the dinner table,” a third joked.
But despite the back and fourth argument, it’s unlikely to be the last time a comment section descends into a full-blown keyboard war over how much is acceptable to tip.

A man who claims to be Jay-Z’s son has issued a renewed plea to the rapper.
Rymir Satterthwaite has long alleged that he is the ’99 Problems’ singer’s illegitimate son, and spoken out on several occasions to address the matter.
Jay-Z is married to fellow superstar Beyoncé, whom he wed in 2008 and shares three kids with.
In 2023, Rymir took the case to the Supreme Court in the hope that a judge would force Jay-Z – real name Shawn Carter – into taking a paternity test.

He first start filing legal complaints about the rapper in 2010 when Rymir’s late mother Wanda requested that a Pennsylvania court make Jay-Z take a paternity test in order to determine who her son’s real father was.
Wanda claims to have had a brief affair with Jay-Z in 1992 while she was still in an on-again-off-again romance with Robert Graves.
Robert was one of the two men named in Wanda’s 2010 filing and after having a paternity test, he wasn’t found to be Rymir’s father.
With this in mind, Wanda and Rymir has been working to have Jay-Z take the test ever since.

But the 31-year-old claims that Jay-Z’s legal team have been working to ensure that the music star doesn’t take the DNA test ever since the first filing over a decade ago.
Now, in a fresh appeal, Rymir is trying once more to get Jay-Z to take the test.
Speaking to Daily Mail, Rymir said: “I want to resolve this and get this matter done. I really do. I don’t want any money. I just want he truth.”
Sharing what he’d say to Jay-Z if he were to ever meet him, Rymir revealed: “Honestly, I don’t got nothing against you. I just feel like we could get this resolved. I was never chasing you.
“I was never chasing you for fame. I just really want to resolve this. I just want to resolve this and get this matter done. This could all be done with one simple test.
“I just really want it over with. It is something that is really affecting my life and I just want it over with. My mom passed away during this case and I really feel like I have unfinished business.”
Beyoncé received the Grammy for Best Country Album at this year’s ceremony and no one was more thrilled for her than her husband Jay-Z.
On Sunday night (February 2), Queen Bey was presented with the coveted award for her eighth album Cowboy Carter – which also won Album of the Year – a dive into the Black roots of country and the overlooked contributions of Black artists to the genre.
Introduced by Taylor Swift, Beyoncé said she was ‘very fully and honored’ to receive the accolade.
While she appeared shocked to bag the Grammy, her partner, rapper Jay-Z, had known all along she would make it – at least according to a lip-reading expert.
As Beyoncé stood up to go to the stage, she hugged Jay-Z and daughter Blue Ivy, with her husband leaning over to ‘whisper’ something in her ear.
Now, lip reader NJ Hickling has offered their interpretation of the mystery surrounding the couple’s exchange moments before the singer made her speech.

Hickling told The Mirror the ‘nine words’ the musician apparently said to his wife.
“Woah woah woah. Bout time! You’re a top girl,” Jay-Z said, according to the lip reader.
Once on stage, Beyoncé gave a heartfelt speech encouraging artists to pursue their passions regardless of genre codifications.
“Wow I really was not expecting this,” she said.
“I want to thank God, oh my God, that I’m able to still do what I love after so many years.”
The star then added: “I’d like to thank all of the incredible country artists that accepted this album. We worked so hard on it. I think sometimes genre is a code word to keep us in our place as artists. And I just want to encourage people to do what they’re passionate about, and to say, ‘Stay persistent.'”
Beyoncé dedicated her award to Linda Martell, one of the pioneers for Black musicians in country music. Martell was the first Black woman to perform solo at the Grand Ole Opry and features on several of Cowboy Carter‘s songs.

On Sunday, Beyoncé also became the first Black woman to win a Grammy for Album of the Year since Lauryn Hill took home the prize in 1999 with The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
Beyoncé was nominated in 11 categories at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards and won three – Album of the Year, Best Country Album and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for ‘II Most Wanted’ with Miley Cyrus.
A decade on from winning the lottery, a millionaire has labeled it a ‘curse’ as it’s led her to live a ‘meaningless’ life.
Hearing all six numbers on your ticket read out in the Powerball lottery is the ultimate fantasy, but for one woman who is living that dream, it has became a nightmare.

If you’ve played the lottery before, then you’ve fantasized about winning millions! (Getty stock)
At just 18 years old, she won the lottery, and while she didn’t share exactly how much, she alluded to never having to work for a long, long time.
Ten years on, she’s now 28 and has taken to Reddit to ask users what she can do to give her life a purpose.
“I won the lottery when I was barely 18,” she wrote.
“Thankfully, I wasn’t dumb enough to spend it all: I bought a small house, and have basically lived there for the past 10 years doing nothing but playing house, gaming, watching movies, talking to strangers online, I even got in an LDR [long-distance] relationship for a bit to pass the time, and it didn’t work out etc; essentially being a NEET [not in education, employment, or training].
“I did go to uni, thought since I’ve got all this money, why the hell not just get a degree. I got a law degree and decided to do my masters, but somewhere in between I decided f*** it, I just don’t feel like doing this anymore. So I burnt that money and dropped out.”

She continued: “Now, I’m 28, and I’ve got no social life, no meaning towards life, no hobbies. I realise that I’m turning 30 soon. I’ve never worked a day in my life and never have, all because I didn’t need to. My bills are all paid at this moment, but I know it’s not going to last forever.
“I feel like winning the lottery was a curse because I have no direction, no hobbies, no personality really. I get that I’m in a privileged position, because I’ve still got some money to continue on, but I’m going insane because I don’t know what else to do, how else to progress. I’m lonely and life feels meaningless.”
The majority of commenters advised that she should pick up a hobby, which she explained she had and that it was gaming – which she has now grown tired of.
While some suggested she should spend her time looking at ways to invest her fortune as well as volunteer in her local community.

Despite living everyone’s fantasy, the 28-year-old lottery winner believes it was really a curse (Getty stock)
She replied: “That’s the issue. I’m a bit scared of growing my money so to speak. When I was younger and it came out in the news, I had a lot of ‘investors’ approach me but I was warned that they may be scams / 1 would lose the money so l decided to never invest it.”
While someone else commented: “Man I wished I was the one who had won the lottery. If I was in your position I would have made a list of goals from family to career wise and work from there.”
To which she replied: “It’s a curse, believe me. I wonder how my life would have turned out if I didn’t have this ‘easy way out’. I don’t know where to start.
“I don’t know what I want for family, I’m a woman but nobody has ever been able to take me seriously because apparently I have the personality of a glass of water, I’m so bland.
“I have no idea what I would do for a career, I don’t know what my skills are and where I would even start, eg showing up to employers with a non existent CV? In today’s world?? It just scares me.”
So, are we really better off winning the lottery? Hopefully this winner can find peace in her life!
