There may be little doubt about Timothée Chalamet’s excellence for his role in A Complete Unknown, but his Oscars outfit has left social media users divided.
The 29-year-old actor took to the red carpet ahead of tonight’s 97th Academy Awards ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles and was spotted posing for photographs solo by many viewers tuning into the action.
Chalamet turned up at the 2025 Oscars red carpet wearing a custom Givenchy pale yellow suit.
The actor accessorized the look with a Cartier choker, Page Six reports, alongside a black boot.
However, some social media users have been left a bit confused by his outfit.

One Twitter user said: “A yellow tux? Yikes.”
“It’s giving Easter bunny,” another added.
A third commented: “Why?????”
“Bro dress like oscar,” an Instagram user said.
A second added: “Looks like a stick of butter.”
Even Variety said: “Timothée Chalamet channels his inner Laffy Taffy on the carpet at the #Oscars.”
And others were simply more concerned with where Chalamet’s partner – Kylie Jenner – is.

A user wrote: “Wait where is kylie.”
“Where’s Kylie,” a second wrote.
Well, panic not, because Jenner is at the Oscars, she was just temporarily hidden from view. The Kardashian-Jenner was later spotted sharing ‘a sweet moment’ inside, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
For those of you actually here for what the whole ceremony is really about, he may’ve knocked the socks off viewers for his performance in Wonka, but Chalamet is his year up for the Best Actor award for his role in A Complete Unknown.
In the biopic, Chalamet plays musician Bob Dylan, portraying the star from his breakout as a musician and earlier success in the folk industry, before then ruffling a fair few feathers.
Chalamet received the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role Award for his performance as Bob Dylan at the Screen Actors Guild Awards last month.
In his acceptance speech, the actor said: “I know the classiest thing would be to downplay the effort that went into this role and how much this means to me, but the truth is this was five and a half years of my life. I poured everything I have into playing this incomparable artist, Mr Bob Dylan, a true American hero, and it was the honour of a lifetime playing him.”
Dune: Part 2 and A Complete Unknown – in which Chalamet also starred – are up for Best Picture at this year’s Oscars ceremony too.
Fans of Ariana Grande have had mixed reactions after spotting the bizarre way she greeted her boyfriend and Wicked co-star Ethan Slater at the SAG Awards on Sunday night (February 23).
From Jane Fonda savagely ‘calling out Donald Trump’ during her Life Achievement Award speech to Ariana Grande making a rare public appearance with her new beau, there were a few talking points to take from the Screen Actors Guild Awards that happened this weekend (23 February).
Grande and Slater started dating in 2023 after meeting on the set of Wicked, though their relationship has certainly been a controversial one.

Fans have been left confused by the interaction (Michael Buckner/Variety via Getty Images)
News of their relationship broke just days after it was revealed that the singer was getting a divorce from her now-ex-husband Dalton Gomez, sparking speculation that there may have been some overlap between Grande’s partners.
Slater also filed for divorce in the same month that the relationship came to light, not long after welcoming a daughter with his ex-partner.
The rumors surrounding their romance prompted one of her close family friends to tell PEOPLE: “People have tried to question the timeline.”
The friend claimed that ‘Ariana and Ethan didn’t begin seeing each other until after both parties were separated, respectfully’.
Well, just yesterday (23 February), Grande and Slater appeared together at the SAG Awards in a rare public appearance.
One particular moment caught on camera saw the celebrity couple shake hands before awkwardly posing for photos.
“Idk they seem more like friends, can’t really imagine them as lovers,” one person wrote on TikTok, while a second added: “Why she taking pics with him like he’s a fan?”
Meanwhile, a third stated the couple look like ‘just coworkers’.
However, the Mirror reports Grande and Slater looked more loved-up later on in the night as they held hands walking through the packed crowd.
During this, Nicola Hickling, from Lip Reader, told the Daily Mail that Slater became concerned for the Wicked star after the crowd began to ‘push’ them while they were in the audience for the SAG Awards.
Slater then apparently told Grande to stay a close distance to him during the rather tense moment played out in public.
A viral clip then showed the pair walking through the crowd, with Slater seen whispering to the singer before leading her through a crowd of people.
“Stay near, this crowd next to me, they are pushing me,” the lip reader states Slater said to Grande.
Emma Stone has opened up about how her dress ended up ripped before she went on stage at the 2024 Oscars.
Would it really be an Oscars event if there wasn’t some sort of malfunction – take Jennifer Lawrence’s trip up the stairs in 2013 – and the 96th Annual Awards ceremony last night (March 10) was certainly no different.
Stone was nominated for Best Actress for her role in Poor Things.
The movie saw the actor receive a standing ovation at Venice Film Festival where it first premiered, people in awe of her portrayal of Frankenstein-esque character Bella Baxter, a young woman who passes away only to be revived by surgeon Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe) who replaces her brain with that of a baby’s.
And the 35-year-old actor ended up winning the award and taking to the stage to give her acceptance speech.
However, while making her way onto the stage, Stone could be seen mouthing her dress was ‘broken’ – something she also noted before beginning her acceptance speech – and she’s since revealed the moment she believes the seam on her Louis Vuitton dress gave way.

In a backstage interview with Good Morning America, Stone explained she thinks the dress gave way when she was ‘part[ying] hard’ to Ryan Gosling’s performance of ‘I’m Just Ken’.
“I’m so excited for Ryan and he just absolutely crushed it,” she said. “So it was a blast, so it was worth the dress rip, you know?”
Stone joked she just got up on stage and didn’t know if she was ‘naked’ but ‘hope[d] not’ and carried on with the show.
Indeed, the actor went on with her speech to say: “Oh boy, this is really overwhelming. Sorry. OK, my voice is also a little gone, whatever. The women on the stage you are all incredible and the women in this category. Sandra, Annette, Carey, Lily, I share this with you, I’m in awe of you and it has been such an honor to do all this together, I hope we get to keep doing more together.”

The actor recalled something Poor Things director Yorgos Lanthimos told her about taking herself ‘out of it’ to stop ‘panicking’.
“And he was right, because it’s not about me, it’s about a team that came together to make something greater than the sum of its parts and that is the best part about making movies, is all of us together and I am so deeply honored to share this with every cast member, every crew member, with every crew member, with every single person who poured their love and their care and their brilliance into the making of this film,” she continued.
Stone then addressed Lanthimos again, thanking him for the ‘gift of a lifetime in Bella Baxter’ as well as her family and husband and ‘most importantly’ her daughter too.
The actor added in her interview with Good Morning America after the ceremony that she’d since been sewed ‘back in’ to the dress.

John Cena stunned the audience at the Oscars with his announcement for the Best Costume Design.
The wrestler and actor did a bit with host Jimmy Kimmel about a streaker at the awards, before announcing the award ‘naked’.
Take a look at the hilarious skit below:
Viewers were left in stitches at the bit, which saw Cena draped in a curtain as he announced the award.
The curtain was necessary, what with the envelope seemingly being the only thing protecting Cena’s modesty.
Things got started as Kimmel made reference to an infamous incident in Oscars history.
At the 46th Academy Awards in 1974 a streaker called Robert Opel ran across the stage during the ceremony.
Kimmel then pointedly repeated a line about how crazy it would be if a streaker ran across the stage right now.
A sheepish Cena then could be seen appearing behind the set, or at least, his top half could.
The pair did a bit with Cena saying that they were going ahead with the bit as Cena feigned reluctance to do the joke.

Kimmel pointed out to Cena that he ‘wrestles naked’, with Cena responding that he actually wrestles in pants, to which Kimmel quipped that was ‘worse’.
Eventually, Cena took to the stage revealing that he was completely ‘naked’, with just the envelope seeming to conceal his modesty.
After hesitating at the mic, Cena pointed out that he would not be able to open the envelope without exposing himself to the assembled audience, and everyone watching at home.
In a hilarious reference to the award for Best Costume Design, he also pointed out that costumes are very important, to laughs from the audience.

The show then cut away to the nominations for best costume design. These were Barbie, Poor Things, Killers of the Flower Moon, Oppenheimer, and Napoleon.
Ultimately the award went to Poor Things costume design, with costume designer Holly Waddington taking to the stage to accept the award.
Kimmel’s hosting has already been the subject of controversy after he jabbed at Robert Downey Jr.
The comedian said: “This is the highest point of Robert Downey Jr’s long and illustrious career. Well, one of the highest points.”
Downey Jr. could be seen giving Kimmel a look which was clearly less than impressed, with some people joking that they were relieved he didn’t emulate Will Smith after he slapped Chris Rock.
More to follow.

A federal building’s TV has played a video of what looks like Donald Trump giving Elon Musk’s feet a good old seeing to.
Yup, despite revealing Musk’s ‘deep fear’, it would appear Trump and the Tesla CEO are closer than ever – well, a version of them both at least.
Earlier today (February 24), while the rest of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) was working hard to ‘ensure Americans have access to fair, affordable housing, and opportunities to achieve self-sufficiency, thereby strengthening [the] nation’, those in the cafeteria were treated to a surprise viewing.
A television in the HUD’s cafeteria came under attack from well, it’s not been publicly ascertained yet, but someone who decided to take the opportunity to broadcast AI material showing what appeared to be the US president and Musk in a, well, bit of a compromising position.
Vox journalist Rachel Cohen shared a video of the incident to Twitter which shows a television suspended from the ceiling with what appears to be Trump and Elon – with Trump giving Musk’s toes a good old smooch.
A caption over the pair reads: “LONG LIVE THE REAL KING.”
And it’s not taken long for people to flock to social media to weigh in.

The AI-generated video has gone viral (Jeff Bottari/Zuffa LLC)
One Twitter user said: “This is so funny but disgusting as well.”
Another spotted: “Bro has two left feet.”
A third commented: “That’s not kissing, that’s something else and I don’t want it o be defined.”
A fourth questioned: “Funny, but isn’t it more like the other way around?”
Democrats from the US House Committee on Financial Services resolved: “Not all heroes wear capes.”
It’s unclear who’s behind the fake video being shared on the TV, however, the footage appears to have been posted on Twitter previously and another user claimed the video was adapted from their image.
While the AI versions of Musk and Trump get down to business, the real-life duo have been in another sense of the word – powering out an email to all members of the federal workforce requesting one thing or else the employees will be considered as having resigned if they don’t respond.
Trump has also turned around to the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Musk and instructed him to ‘get more aggressive’ – certainly another word you could use to describe that toe video, eh?
UNILAD has contacted the HUD and representatives for Donald Trump and Elon Musk for comment.
