Diddy’s lawyer has quit less than three months before the disgraced rapper’s trial takes place.

Anthony Ricco has decided to step down from Diddy’s, real name Sean Combs, legal team as he released a shocking statement.

In the motion for withdrawing as a representative for the 55-year-old, the filing dated yesterday (February 20) read in part: “On September 22, 2024, I was retained by the defendant, Sean Combs, to serve as his counsel, and I have served as his counsel since that time.”

It went on: “For the reasons set forth below, this motion for withdrawal is filed so that Sean Combs may move forward with his defense and to commence jury selection and trial without any delay.”

Listing why he should be relived, Ricco explains that the move has come following a discussion with Combs’ lead counsel Mark Agnifilo, they agreed he should withdraw.

Adding: “While I am aware that the Local Rule requires that an application for withdrawal of counsel is supported and granted ‘only upon a showing by affidavit or otherwise of satisfactory reasons for withdrawal,’ there are sufficient reasons (related to the protections afforded by the attorney/client privilege) for brevity in my application for withdrawal as counsel in this case.

“Although I have provided Sean Combs with the high level of legal representation expected by the court, under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs, consistent with the ABA Standards for Criminal Justice.

“This motion for withdrawal of counsel, if granted, will not result in a delay of the present schedule for the commencement of jury selection and trial, or the present schedules for briefing of pre- trial legal issues. As a result, there will be no lapse in representation, as Sean Combs will continue to be represented by five other attorneys of record.”

It comes as Diddy was indicted by a grand jury following his arrest at the Park Hyatt hotel in Manhattan back in September.

Combs has been charged with racketeering and sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, charges he’s continued to deny.

The indictment accuses Combs and others in his enterprise of ‘wield[ing] the power and prestige of Combs’ role at the Combs Business to intimidate, threaten and lure female victims into Combs’ orbit, often under the pretence of a romantic relationship’.

With the ‘assistance of members and associates’, the document claims Combs ‘transported commercial sex workers across state lines and internationally’ and ‘then used force, threats of force, and coercion, to cause victims to engage in extended sex acts with male commercial sex workers that Combs referred to as, among other things, ‘freak offs’.’

Combs remains in jail as he awaits trial – due to take place on May 5.

Jay-Z releases lengthy statement as accuser who claimed he and Diddy raped her at age 13 drops lawsuit

The court case has been dropped by the plaintiff, Jane Doe, after first naming Jay-Z back in December

Warning: This article contains discussion of rape which some readers may find distressing.

All allegations made against Jay-Z by a woman who claimed she was raped by the rapper when she was just 13 years old have been dropped.

Plaintiff Jane Doe alleged that the 24-time Grammy-winner carried out the heinous act on her at an afterparty for the MTV Video Music Awards back in 2000, and claimed Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, also drugged and raped her.

However, since filing the lawsuit in October, initially just against Combs before adding Jay-Z’s name in December, she gave an interview that raised some questions over her credibility.

Doe conceded that ‘not all the facts are clear’ of her recollection of the night in question – where she even suggested a female celebrity watched the ordeal happen, before adding: “I have made some mistakes. I may have made a mistake in identifying.”

The 55-year-old, whose wife Beyoncé won a record 35th Grammy earlier this month, issued the following statement through his record label, Roc Nation.

“Today is a victory. The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed. This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims,” Jay-Z wrote.

“I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed.

“This 1-800 lawyer gets to file a suit hiding behind Jane Doe, and when they quickly realize that the money grab is going to fail, they get to walk away with no repercussions. The system has failed.”

He added: “The court must protect victims, OF COURSE, while with the same ethical responsibility, the courts must protect the innocent from being accused without a shred of evidence. May the truth prevail for all victims and those falsely accused equally.”

While the allegations against Jay-Z have been dropped, Combs remains in jail as he awaits trial – due to take place on May 5.

It comes after he was indicted by a grand jury following his arrest at the Park Hyatt hotel in Manhattan back in September.

Combs has since been charged with racketeering and sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, charges he’s continued to deny. A 14-page federal indictment accuses the rapper of organizing events known as ‘freak offs’.

Diddy’s lawyer says rapper is ‘very eager’ to tell ‘every part of his story’ as shocking party pictures resurface

The rapper’s lawyer said that Diddy is keen to take the stand in court

Diddy’s lawyer has said that his client ‘can’t wait’ to take the stand in court and share his version of events.

The rapper is currently being held at Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, after being arrested in the city on September 16.

Diddy has since been slapped with multiple charges – including sex trafficking and racketeering – and with the nature of the allegations he’s facing in mind, he’s being held without bond until his trial.

Some of the crimes the ‘I’ll Be Missing You’ hitmaker is accused of including sex trafficking and ‘verbal, emotional, physical and sexual’ abuse.

While most criminal defendants don’t take the stand during their trial, apparently Diddy is keen to tell his side of things.

“I don’t know that I could keep him off the stand,” his lawyer Marc Agnifilo told TMZ. “I think he is very eager to tell his story.”

As it stands, no date for the rapper’s trial has been set.

Elsewhere in a teaser clip for TMZ’s new documentaryThe Downfall of Diddy, Agnifilo says that the US government put the case together ‘as a takedown of a successful Black man’.

Agnifilio’s comments come after shocking photos of one of the rapper’s dinner parties in Miami has resurfaced in the wake of his arrest.

In the photo dating back to 2004, a naked woman is seen lying on a table surrounded by fruit and candles. The party in question was reportedly hosted by MAC, Hennessy, and Microsoft.

Famous faces to have attended the soirée included Will Smith, Owen Wilson and Charlie Sheen.

Diddy has hosted dozens of parties over the course of his music career, some which prosecutors have said were called ‘Freak Offs’.

In a resurfaced interview with Conan O’Brien, the rapper explained how he throws a good party.

He listed ‘beautiful women’, ‘beautiful men for the ladies’, numerous types of alcohol, but also water as apparently ‘a lot of ladies drink water at parties’ as necessities.

“If you don’t have what they need then they gon’ leave,” he added.

Diddy went on: “You got to keep’ em there. You need locks on the doors.”

He went on to say that his events were ‘a little kinky’ and he would make sure there was no air conditioning.

“Heat affects the alcohol,” Diddy claimed. “It also affects, like, everyone gets a little bit more comfortable and loose. [It] builds up a nice little sweat.”

O’Brien went on to label the idea as ‘disgusting’.

Family respond to shocking update in case of woman whose death was ruled suicide despite being stabbed 20 times

Despite first-grade teacher Ellen Greenberg having multiple knife wounds, officials deemed her death a suicide

The family of a woman who’s brutal death was ruled as a suicide, despite her having multiple stab wounds across her body, have spoken out following a shocking update.

On January 26, 2011, first-grade teacher Ellen Greenberg was discovered dead in her apartment in Philadelphia, US with a 10-inch blade plunged through her chest directly into her heart, having suffered as many as 20 puncture wounds.

Despite 10 of the stab wounds being located on the back of her head and her neck, with the other 10 found on her midriff, the 27-year-old’s death was ruled as self-inflicted by Assistant Philadelphia Medical Examiner Marlon Osbourne.

Her fiancé at the time, Sam Goldberg, had told cops that after kicking down the door to her apartment, he found her covered in blood and attempted CPR while speaking to a 911 dispatcher.

Eight years later in 2019, the parents of Ellen, Joshua and Sandee Greenberg, filed a lawsuit against the Medical Examiner’s office and Osborne himself – which was rejected by the Commonwealth Court last September.

But after appealing their verdict, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court this week has allowed the hearing to go ahead as a ‘matter of statewide importance’.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Joshua said: “Ellen stabbing herself 20 times before dying is bulls**t. She died from a very vicious, very painful knife attack.”

He and wife Sandee are hopeful the cause of death on their daughter’s death certificate will be changed once again – after Osbourne had originally ruled Ellen’s death as a homicide before changing it to suicide.

Sandee said: “We’re smiling, we’re very optimistic… I hope we’re making our daughter proud. There’s been a lot of frustration, but we haven’t given up.”

The couple have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars fighting for the cause of death to be reversed, and for their daughter’s death to be reinvestigated.

In response to the appeal, judges explained their reasoning for allowing the lawsuit to go ahead, stating that they were ‘acutely aware of the deeply flawed investigation’.

Joshua continued: “Sandee and I both believe Ellen was going to go home that day.

“She had taken off the engagement ring, had packed up her makeup, which was very valuable to her, and she was planning to leave.

“And I think things didn’t work out well, and she never made it home.”

Goldberg, who has since moved on and has a family of his own, has not spoken publicly about his fiancé’s death and was never labeled as a suspect.

Diddy’s mom speaks out amid rap mogul’s sex trafficking and abuse allegations

Diddy’s mother argued her son was facing what amounted to a public lynching

Diddy’s mother has spoken out in defense of her son as he faces a slew of sexual abuse and trafficking allegations.

Janice Combs, Sean ‘Diddy’ Comb’s mother, issued a statement on Sunday defending her son against his many allegations.

The hip-hop mogul was indicted by federal prosecutors in mid-September on racketeering and sex trafficking charges, and has since been denied bail twice. He has repeatedly denied all the charges levied against him.

The 54-year-old could have as many as 120 people filing against him, according to attorney Tony Buzbee. They are all planning to take legal action against Diddy, and with allegations ranging from exploitation to sexual abuse, the lawsuit is mounting.

Buzbee shared that he is intending to file lawsuits against the rapper within the next 30 days from both men and women, with ages between 9 and 38 – including a 15-year-old girl who was allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted in Diddy’s presence.

Now, Diddy’s mother, Janice Combs, has released a statement through attorney Natlie G. Figgers.

Obtained by the Hollywood Reporter on October 6, she said: “My son is not the monster they have painted him to be, and he deserves the chance to tell his side.

“It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies.

“To bear witness [to] what seems to be like a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words. Like every human being, my son deserves to have his day in court, to finally share his side, and to prove his innocence.”

She went on to acknowledge that ‘he has made mistakes in his past’, referencing her son reaching a settlement with his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura after shocking hotel CCTV footage from 2016 showed him assaulting her.

“My son may not have been entirely truthful about certain things, such as denying he has ever gotten violent with an ex-girlfriend when the hotel’s surveillance showed otherwise,” she said.

“Sometimes, the truth and a lie become so closely intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit one part of the story, especially when that truth is outside the norm or is too complicated to be believed.”
