A university student has been booted out of her presidential role on campus after making controversial comments about Donald Trump’s son.
Kaya Walker, the now-former president of New York University’s College Republicans chapter, has been driven out and forced to resign after her comments about the real president’s son, Barron Trump, came to light.
Ms Walker was the subject of some fierce backlash among her Republican peers after she spoke to Vanity Fair about President Trump’s 18-year-old son.

She told the magazine that Barron was ‘sort of like an oddity on campus’, adding: “He goes to class, he goes home.”
The College Republicans of America (CRA) were one of dozens to slam the student’s comments on social media, writing that although what was written was ‘unfairly framed’, they still found what Ms Walker said to be ‘inappropriate’ and in conflict with its ‘values and principles’.

In a bid to extend the olive branch even further, CRA President Will Donahue publicly invited Barron to join the CRA.
He said in a statement on Twitter: “Barron Trump represents the future of the conservative movement, and we would be honored to have him join the College Republicans of America.”
Mr Donahue continued: “Strong leadership is built on resilience, courage, and the humility to rise above petty hostility – qualifies that Barron has already demonstrated.

“We invite Barron to join us in shaping the future of our party.”
The unprecedented invitation comes as the CRA broke 100 years of its own tradition by endorsing Donald Trump as president and gathering more than one million voter contracts across elections and ‘sending hundreds of our students wherever the Trump campaign needed them’.
“Our support for President Trump is, and has been, a pillar of our organization,” the CRA statement added.
The news comes as Barron has caused quite a stir around the college’s Washington Square Park campus since he enrolled in the Stern School of Business in fall.

The NYU Arts & Science says Walker is studying a BA in International Relations and French (NYU)
While his mom, Melania Trump, said Barron was ‘very vocal’ and instrumental in the Trump campaign to victory, notably serving as his dad’s ‘podcast adviser’, other classmates say the teen is quite the ‘ladies’ man’ on campus, according to PEOPLE.
The anonymous student added: “He’s tall and handsome. A lot of people seem to think he’s pretty attractive — yes, even liberal people like him.”

Despite this, the youngster reportedly doesn’t spend much time on campus or actively participate in school life.
For instance, he travels through NYU’s open campus in Lower Manhattan from Trump Tower in a procession of cars and is surrounded by Secret Service personnel to protect him.
The teen rarely speaks out publicly and one student told Vanity Fair that they once asked him to play basketball, and while he seemed keen, the student believed ‘he wasn’t really allowed to do stuff’.
Ms Walker also suggested to Vanity Fair that she was somewhat bothered by the mania following Barron on campus, arguing that he should have a more normal college experience.
Barron Trump seemingly doesn’t have as much interest in politics as his father does.
Barron is the youngest son of Donald Trump, the newly elected President of the United States. His mother, Trump’s wife of 19 years, is Melania Trump.
Trump’s older children – Ivanka, Donald Jr., Tiffany, and Eric – have been quite present during his political career and have made numerous appearances over the course of his 2016, 2020, and 2024 campaigns.
Ivanka, for example, was a senior advisor in the first Trump administration, while Donald Jr. was once dubbed as ‘the go-to person for political things’ by one of Trump’s aide in 2021, Sky News reported.
But, having just only turned 18 (the minimum age you have to be to vote in the US), Barron hasn’t had many big roles in his father’s political party – and, apparently, doesn’t have much interest in it.
Barron recently started at New York University’s Stern School of Business, where his famous father is often a topic of conversation.

When asked by his fellow students about who he supports, Barron allegedly told them that he doesn’t align with any political party, reported Mail Online.
Despite this, he did exercise his right to vote last week, with his mother sharing a snap of the 18-year-old at stood in a polling booth.
“Voted for the first time – for his dad,” Melania wrote alongside the photo shared to Twitter.
While Barron isn’t thought to have been involved in much of the political side of things as of yet, apparently, he did advise his 78-year-old dad on which podcasts he should appear on ahead of this year’s election.
“Barron has been very involved in recommending a number of the podcasts that we should do”, Trump campaign senior adviser Jason Miller said on the Playbook Deep Dive podcast, as per The Times of India.

“I got to tell you, hats off to the young man. Every single recommendation he’s had has turned out to be absolute ratings gold that’s broken the internet,” Miller went on.
“When you look at the impact of podcasts or YouTube shows – non-traditional media, part of the thing is you’re meeting voters where they’re at.”
Compared to Trump’s first presidency, it’s predicted that Barron will have a more active role this time round.
According to body language expert Judi James, the 18-year-old is ‘positioned up front in the spotlight in the hierarchically visual role Ivanka took last election’.
Trump’s inauguration will take place on January 20, 2025.

Amazon Prime Video is reportedly forking out $40 million to license a documentary about the life of Melania Trump.
The incoming First Lady tends to steer clear of the spotlight – although she did release a memoir back in October, which detailed how she first met Donald Trump in a New York City nightclub, among other anecdotes.
The Slovenian model even managed dodge the majority of her husband’s 2024 presidential campaign, but did spark ‘body double’ rumors after making an appearance on election day.
Now, her ‘truly unique story’ is set to be told in a new Amazon Prime Video movie, which releases on the streamer and in cinemas in ‘the second half of 2025’.
The deal will also include a follow-up docu-series made up of two or three episodes, according to Puck News, who also first reported the multi-million licensing price tag.

The Jeff Bezos-owned company confirmed over the weekend the ‘behind the scenes’ movie began filming in December, with Melania serving as executive producer.
Controversial director Brett Ratner – who was accused of sexual misconduct by women, including Hollywood actress Olivia Munn at the height of 2017’s #MeToo movement – is also on board.
Ratner’s lawyer denied the sexual misconduct allegations.
It appears as though there is some genuine interest around Melania’s life, especially from people on TikTok.
A quick search for Melania Trump on the social media site brings up hundreds of clips of the incoming First Lady, which have received millions of likes.
And recently, a resurfaced video of her talking to a young Barron Trump went viral, as he uttered the phrase ‘I like my suitcase’ in a strong Slovenian accent.
Melania was born in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, and began working as a fashion model from the age of 16.
Italian-born businessman Paolo Zampolli sponsored her move in the US in 1996, later introducing her to Trump.
At this stage, Amazon has remained vague about what exactly will be included in the documentary, the name of which is yet to be confirmed.
The company said in a statement: “Prime Video will be sharing more details on the project as filming progresses and release plans are finalized.
“We are excited to share this truly unique story with our millions of customers around the world.”
The new Melania project was announced not long after Amazon founder Bezos met with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida and announced Amazon would donate $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund.

Donald Trump delivered a second speech and made a comment about wife Melania’s feet which he admitted he was probably ‘going to get hell’ for.
Yesterday (January 20), Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, delivering his inaugural speech in the Capitol Rotunda in Washington, DC.
Shortly after his inauguration, the 78-year-old delivered a second speech during which he not only thanked his wife, Melania, but also gave a very public shout out to her feet, no less.
Delivering remarks in the emancipation hall shortly after giving his inaugural speech, Trump thanked the crowds but took a moment to praise ‘a First Lady who has been incredible’.
He said: “I shouldn’t say this, I’m going to get hell when I say this, but her feet hurt. Absolutely aching. You know, those heels.
“And we thought we were leaving, we were going home. ‘Sir would you be able to go down and say hello to some of your other fans?’ And I said, ‘Oh, I didn’t know that’.”
Trump went on to say Melania told him she ‘loves [him] so much’ but her feet were ‘hurting,’ the president then checking how far they’d have to walk.

#prayformelaniasfeet? (CBS News)
“Maybe 400 or 500 yards – that’s five football fields,” he continued. “I said, ‘Can you make it?’ She said, ‘We’re going to make it no matter what. We’re going to make it because we have to’.”
Trump explained the pair then went to the helicopter and said bye, with Melania’s fashion troubles not ending there either with her hat nearly ‘blowing away’ too.
And it’s not taken long for viewers to flock to social media to weigh in.
One Twitter user said: “TRUMP IS TALKING ABOUT MELANIA’S FEET. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.”
“When he said ‘I’m gonna get hell for saying this, but her feet are absolutely…’ with that pause, I genuinely thought he was about to go down that road,” another added.
A third commented: “Oh bring her some crocs! I get sore feet too!”
And it’s not the only rogue moment you may’ve missed if you tuned into Trump’s inauguration day – there were eight ‘uncomfortable’ interactions during the event.
A failed kiss, billionaires on the front row and Kamala Harris and Joe Biden too – oh and Hillary Clinton certainly didn’t hold back either.
With Donald Trump back in the White House, some social media users have been left curious about why they’re now following the new president and vice president on Instagram.
Now to be clear, this isn’t people who started following Donald Trump and JD Vance and then forgot about it.
Multiple users on Instagram have claimed that they never went to either one of their pages but are now – for some reason – getting updates about them on their feeds.
Some even claimed to have unfollowed the politicians multiple times.
As you can imagine this has sparked a few odd theories but the explanation is pretty straightforward and considerably less exciting.

Why am I automatically following Donald Trump and JD Vance on Instagram?
Meta, who owns Instagram, spokesman Andy Stone explained what was going on in hopes of quelling the fears of those affected.
Writing on Threads, he said: “A reminder: the Facebook.com/POTUS and Facebook.com/White… accounts are managed by the White House. They change when the occupant of the White House changes.”
It’s worth noting that this also applies to the first lady and vice president accounts.
So when Trump took office on January 20, the Facebook and Instagram accounts of now-former President Joe Biden were archived.
For example, Biden’s Instagram account is now @potus46archive, while Trump’s official White House account is @potus.
Biden’s account still has its followers but they were also transferred to the new @potus account.
On Facebook, Biden’s archived page is called ‘President Joe Biden Archived’ and has 11 million followers. While Trump’s official page is named ‘President Donald J. Trump’ and also has 11 million followers.

Meta executives explained what has happened (Anna Moneymaker/Getty Images)
Facebook’s former director of public policy for global elections, Katie Harbath, said this wasn’t anything particularly new and explained how transfers to new administrations worked in 2016 and 2021.
In her own Thread post, she commented: “Just to back up what Andy is saying, my team set up the first ways of having to do this when Trump won in 2016 and we had to transfer the official accounts that President Obama’s team created when Facebook pages were first created.
“Same was done during the transfer from Trump to Biden. The old ones go to an archived account and the followers remain, but the feed is wiped clean. Most platforms handle it this way.”
Thankfully, if you don’t want to follow Trump or Vance then the process of unfollowing or blocking them remains exactly the same – simply click the three dots for the ‘unfollow’ and ‘block’ options.
