Elon Musk’s leaked texts show awkward response he had to boss of $1,700,000,000,000 fund when invited for dinner

Leaked texts allegedly from Elon Musk reveal the awkward response he had to the boss of a $1.7 million Norwegian sovereign wealth fund.

Nicolai Tangen is seemingly not in Musk’s good books after his company, Norges Bank Investment Management, rejected Tesla’s pay package.

The fund, which is one of Tesla’s ten largest shareholders, rejected the compensation deal proposed by Musk back in June last year.

That was worth $56 billion some seven months ago, but is now said to be valued at around $100 billion.

Tangen, CEO of NBIM, invited Musk alongside the head honchos of Ferrari, Nestlé, Adidas, DoorDash, and Novo Nordisk for dinner in Oslo.

As per Business Insider, Musk decided to decline the invitation to dinner alongside fellow CEOs and rich individuals, citing it was too ‘expensive’ for him.

“This would be very difficult and expensive for me to attend,” Musk allegedly wrote in a text to NBIM.

The messages were first released by Norwegian newspaper E24 following freedom-of-information laws coming into effect.

Musk reportedly added: “When I ask you for a favor, which I very rarely do, and you decline, then you should not ask me for one until you’ve done something above nothing to make amends. Friends are as friends do.”

A few days after those apparent messages were sent, Musk reportedly forwarded messages to Tangen from an unnamed correspondent.

In this, the CEO was accused of providing private text messages to the media and telling them Musk wouldn’t be on the guest list, as per Business Insider.

Tangen stated he didn’t detail the messages to the press, but instead they were released by his communications department.

Nonetheless, the CEO is sorry for what happened.

“The country is obsessed about you, but this is not reflecting badly on you,” he said. “Still, sorry for any inconvenience.”

UNILAD has reached out to Musk’s representatives for comment.

Elsewhere in the world of Musk, a tweet where the Tesla founder revealed the company nearly went bankrupt has resurfaced.

Musk admitted Tesla had been struggling in a post on Twitter in 2020, when he responded to an ‘On This Day’ post about some of Tesla’s earlier problems.

The post read: “On this day in 2008: Tesla secures $40 million loan to avoid bankruptcy. Today, it’s the most valuable automaker in the world.”

In response to the post, Musk revealed that Tesla had at one point been just one month away from complete bankruptcy.

Elon Musk’s daughter issues scathing response after he was accused of giving ‘Nazi salute’ at Trump rally

The billionaire’s estranged daughter has slammed her father on social media

Three days have passed since Elon Musk was accused of making a ‘Nazi salute’ on two separate occasions while addressing Trump supporters, and his estranged daughter has touched on the gesture.

On Monday (January 20), President Donald Trump was sworn into office for the second time and afterwards, during the rally at his inauguration, he spoke to his adoring fans.

Of course, the world’s richest man was in attendance. Musk has been named, alongside the former Republican presidential candidate and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, as the head of a new Department of Government Efficiency.

The billionaire has since denied this was his intention, and other defenders have argued he was doing a Roman salute, or was ‘giving his heart to the crowd’.

Taking to Instagram’s social media platform Threads, Musk’s transgender daughter Vivian Jenna Wilson, wrote: “I’m just gonna say let’s call a spade a f***ing spade. Especially if there were two spades done in succession based on the reaction of the first spade.”

After appearing to make a ‘Nazi salute’, he then repeated the gesture again.

Wilson also posted: “I don’t know why y’all are reacting with such vigor, I’m clearly only talking about card suits. I mean I have ADHD and this was CLEARLY just an accident that people happened to interpret to mean something other than just card suits.

“After all, there’s no proof I’m not just talking about card suits. Y’know… people assuming that I’m not just talking about card suits just goes to show how dishonest people/the media can be.”

Musk has since hit out at Wikipedia for comparing his gesture to a Nazi salute. Defending his actions, he wrote: “Since legacy media propaganda is considered a ‘valid’ source by Wikipedia, it naturally simply becomes an extension of legacy media propaganda!”

The page in question read: “Musk thumped his right hand over his heart, fingers spread wide, and then extended his right arm out, emphatically, at an upward angle, palm down and fingers together.

He then repeated the gesture to the crowd on his back. As he finished the gestures, he said to the crowd, ‘My heart goes out to you’.

“The gesture was viewed as a Nazi salute or Roman salute by many, including politicians Yolanda Díaz, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Jerry Nadler, as well as historian of fascism Ruth Ben-Ghiat.”

Despite the accusations against Musk, the Anti-Defamation League defended the South African billionaire.

Bill Gates slams Elon Musk’s venture into politics after he was accused of giving ‘Nazi salute’ at Trump rally

The billionaire has taken a swipe at Elon Musk for being an ‘insane’ ‘populist stirrer’

When you’re the richest person on the planet you can kind of do what you want, which Elon Musk has proved since venturing into politics as Donald Trump begins his second term of presidency.

But not everyone in the ‘billionaire club’ is a fan of Musk’s political career – one of which is Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

The Tesla CEO arguably hasn’t had the best start as the leader of the newly founded Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), with him recently being accused of doing a ‘Nazi salute’ at Trump’s victory rally on inauguration day.

And now, Gates has spoken about Musk’s bold venture into the world of US politics.

“I thought the rules of the game were you picked a finite number of things to spout about that you cared for, focused on a few critical things, rather than telling people who they should vote for,” Gates said during a new interview with The Times.

That’s not him saying he’s never had an opinion. In fact, the 69-year-old mentioned that he thought ‘Brexit was a mistake’ – the UK’s decision to leave the European Union and become independent – ‘but I wasn’t tweeting every day’.

When the tech mogul was asked whether he wished he had gotten involved in politics more in the way that the SpaceX owner has, he sternly replied: “Not at all.”

Explaining how he and Musk are the complete opposite of each other – with Gates concentrating his efforts solely on offering world aid, while Musk focuses on ventures like buying social media platforms and beginning a political career – he said: “I’m ultra-different.”

“It’s really insane that he can destabilise the political situations in countries,” he added.

“I think in the US foreigners aren’t allowed to give money; other countries maybe should adopt safeguards to make sure super-rich foreigners aren’t distorting their elections.

“It’s difficult to understand why someone who has a car factory in both China and in Germany, whose rocket business is ultra-dependent on relationships with sovereign nations and who is busy cutting $2 trillion in US government expenses and running five companies, is obsessing about this grooming story in the UK. I’m like, what?”

He went on to explain how Musk has been calling one of the most right wing politicians in the UK, Nigel Farage, as being ‘not right wing enough’.

“I mean, this is insane s**t. You are for the AfD,” he added, speaking of the far-right political movement in Germany. “We can all overreach… If someone is super-smart, and he is, they should think how they can help out. But this is populist stirring.”

Speaking to the UK publication, Gates explained how he now worries about politics as much as another pandemic.

He continued: “The whole political situation with polarisation is very dangerous. Certainly, if you think through my lens of ‘Let’s help the poor countries,’ there is a lot going on.

“The Labour government came in [in the UK] and is less generous on aid than the Tories who came before it. Our problem is an ageing society, tight budgets and a right wing inward turning, with hatred of all foreigners, and hence refusing aid to them even if they’re not in your own country.

“We’re in a challenging situation.”

The comments come as Tesla’s value plummets

Hundreds of Tesla owners have hatched ‘plans’ out of ’embarrassment’ as the company’s CEO has been accused of making a ‘Nazi salute’ during Donald Trump’s inauguration rally.

Elon Musk is at the center of controversy after the billionaire tech mogul appeared to make a bizarre gesture during the president’s inauguration ceremony yesterday (January 20).

The SpaceX founder and Twitter owner was accused of doing a ‘Nazi salute’ while onstage at the Capitol One Arena, Washington.

The 53-year-old appeared to be excited by the idea of sending an American to Mars, during which he thumped his chest with his fist and shot his arm at a certain angle.

He commented: “Thank you for making it happen. Thank you, my heart goes out to you,” before turning back to the audience and repeating the move towards the American flag.

Dozens of viewers flooded social media with their thoughts on the matter, accusing Musk of making a ‘Sieg Heil’ as clear as day’ – and not only once, but twice.

Musk himself has addressed the comments on his Twitter account while the Anti-Defamation League claimed it was an ‘awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm’ as opposed to a ‘Nazi salute’.

However, it seems some of Musk’s customers have been left uncomfortable by the slip up.

Over on Reddit, thousands of Tesla owners have been debating how they feel about their vehicles after the incident, with the question posed by the OP: “Are you going to do anything about it?”

Some claimed the move had completely turned them off from ever investing in a Tesla, while several resigned to trying to flog them out of ’embarrassment’ to be seen driving them and said they never would have forked out had Musk pulled such a stunt before.

Others said they feel ‘stuck’ with their vehicle for now but vowed never to purchase another Tesla.

One user replied: “I’m stuck with my car for now but I won’t be buying another Tesla.”

Another added: “I don’t have the financial freedom to take a huge loss selling my vehicle. Instead, I simply won’t give Tesla any more money going forward, and my next vehicle upgrade will probably come sooner than it may have otherwise.”

While a third claimed: “I’m 100 percent buying an EV and 100 percent not a Tesla in the next 12 months before of Elon only… Would have probably bought a Tesla otherwise.”

The comments come as already Tesla’s brand value took a whopping $15,000,000,000 hit due to issues with the Cybertruck build and millions being recalled.

But Brand Finance CEO David Haigh also suggested Musk’s actions have played a part, too.

He said: “If you are buying electric vehicles, his persona is highly likely to impact your view of whether or not you want to buy one of his company’s cars, but that’s only one of many factors.”

Former Tesla employee reveals what Elon Musk would do if you were close to being fired

Carl Medlock worked as a territory manager for Tesla from 2009 to 2013.

A man who worked at Tesla for four years has spilled the beans on what Elon Musk would do when employees weren’t meeting his standards.

As controversial as some of Musk’s opinions may be, the 52-year-old has enough successful companies to prove that he’s pretty clued-up when it comes to the world of business.

You don’t become the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX without making some smart and ruthless choices, and former employee Carl Medlock got to watch Musk’s techniques unfold as he worked as a territory manager for Tesla from 2009 to 2013.

After he left Tesla, Medlock appeared on The Iced Coffee Hour podcast to discuss his time at the electric car company and he made an interesting revelation about what the Tesla boss usually did if you were close to being fired.

According to the former employee, you might know you’re in danger if Musk begins paying extra close attention to you.

Medlock explained: “If Elon is micromanaging you, you’re probably on you way out because he hires good people [and] lets them do their thing.”

Medlock went on to insist that it was ‘fun’ working for Musk, but he said the businessman didn’t socialise with his workers.

He continued: “He would talk to you if he needed to talk to you, but he didn’t just go BS with people at all.”

When asked if Musk would ever joke around with the staff at work, Medlock responded: “I never saw it.”

Maybe he’s just trying to save all of his best quips for a bigger audience on X?

Though Musk might not have been the most personable boss, Medlock made clear that the staff had profound respect for him.

Offering one example of this feeling, he said: “One of the respectful things that everybody at Tesla did without even saying it, when he was with kids, nobody disrespected him – nobody went over there and talked to him.”

Medlock ended up losing his job at Tesla after four years after an incident in which he allegedly attempted to help a woman in Hawaii whose Tesla was ‘all scratched up’.
