MrBeast now has more YouTube subscribers than the entire U.S. population

I think it’s safe to say that philanthropist YouTuber MrBeast has become a household name.

MrBeast, real name Jimmy Donaldson, has become the most successful YouTuber out there with by far the most subscribers having bypassed Indian music channel T-Series, on 283 million.

The 26-year-old has surpassed 341 million subscribers on his main channel with the government Census calculating there to be 341 million people living in the US.

But by no stretch of the imagination has it been easy, with his journey starting half his lifetime ago at the age of 13 back in 2012 – when he primarily uploaded content related to Minecraft and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

His channel didn’t really take off for the next five years, having diversified content he was trying everything to make a name for himself and his channel, but his big break came when he uploaded a video in 2017 titled ‘Counting to 100,000’.

Yes, he really counted to 100,000 and it took him more than 40 hours to do so – after the video went viral he realized he’d found a niche that for whatever reason people enjoyed watching so he then uploaded two more videos based on the same ideology.

These were: ‘Reading the dictionary for 24 hours’ and ‘Saying Logan Paul 100,000 Times’.

He then began using all the money he’d gained from YouTube paying him for the amount of subscribers and video views he had, to put it back into his videos.

Soon after, he began letting people use his card in Walmart to buy whatever they want and those videos were a huge success. It snowballed with him giving more and more money away.

MrBeast saw just how well the videos of him giving money away were doing that he began holding competitions with huge cash prizes that people could only dream of, as well as posting videos where he’d trap himself underground for 24 hours and so on.

The guy knows what he’s doing.

Now, following on from the success of MrBeast releasing his own version of Squid Game, he’s since landed another lucrative deal with Prime Video in what’s been dubbed as the ‘largest game show in history‘.

Titled Beast Games, it’s based on his YouTube show in a ‘fast-paced and high-production format’.

It sees 2,000 contestants competing for a $5 million cash prize – the largest single prize in TV and streaming history.

Beast Games aired on Prime Video on December 19, but only two episodes dropped with the remaining eight episodes are then released on a weekly basis.

People, including Elon Musk, have called for MrBeast to share his content on X

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of the YouTube sensation that is MrBeast.

MrBeast – real name Jimmy Donaldson – joined the platform over a decade again and is well on his way to becoming the first YouTube billionaire.

At just 25-years-old, Donaldson creates multimillion dollar content for YouTube and definitely reaps the rewards of splashing the cash.

He boasts a whopping 230 million subscribers on YouTube and, in light of his extreme popularity, Elon Musk wants in.

Musk, one of the world’s richest human beings, completed his acquisition of Twitter (now named X) in 2022, and has tried to urge Donaldson to start utilising the platform for his content.

X-users have also called for the social media star to star sharing his videos on X.

“I uploaded, go watch or I’ll drop kick you,” Donaldson tweeted December 30.

“Upload on this platform too,” urged one person, as a second echoed: “You can upload here so we can watch in the X app.”

“I would watch it if you posted direct to X but I’m not gonna go all the way over to YouTube for it,” added a third.

Jumping on the bandwagon, Musk replied to the first tweet simply writing ‘Yeah’ in agreement.

Replying to the billionaire tech mogul, Donaldson said: “My videos cost millions to make and even if they got a billion views on X it wouldn’t fund a fraction of it.”

“I’m down though to test stuff once monetization is really cranking!” he added.

Musk has since insisted that ‘creator rewards will increase significantly this year’.

But how much does Donaldson actually make on YouTube, I hear you ask?

According to reports, in 2023 alone, the 25-year-old raked in a staggering $82 million. The year prior, he made $54 million – $32 million of which came from ads, Forbes reports.

In regards to his net worth, it’s said that Donaldson is worth $500 million.

As well as YouTube, MrBeast also makes his money on Facebook and TikTok.

He creates his content in a so-called ‘top secret’ multimillion dollar filming studios.

He has two studios in total, both located in Greenville, North Carolina.

Donaldson gave fellow YouTuber Arun Maini a tour of his filming spaces back in 2020, with Maini going on to tally up the price of the studio and its contents being around an eye-watering $14 million.

Most of his videos are filmed in what’s known as ‘Studio C’ – a 50,000 square foot room.

MrBeast just gained an extraordinary number of subscribers in 24 hours to become YouTube’s biggest channel

MrBeast has shattered yet another YouTube record

When you think of YouTube, a lot of people’s attentions immediately turn to MrBeast. The two really do go hand in hand.

Whether he’s making fans think of him as a real-life Jigsaw or breaking internet records, MrBeast is always making headlines.

Now, the YouTuber – whose real name is real name Jimmy Donaldson – has shattered his daily subscriber record.

In fact, MrBeast’s channel has surpassed T-Series to become the most subscribed channel on YouTube.

The content creator surpassed the Indian record label on Saturday (1 June), with the man himself revealing a personal record that was also broken on that day.

Taking to X, MrBeast revealed he gained the most subscribers he’s ever had in a single day, as he also broke the YouTube record.

Sharing a screenshot of his stats, MrBeast gained a whopping 2.1 million subscribers in just a 24-hours period.

“Yesterday was the most subscribers we’ve ever gotten in a day,” the YouTuber wrote.

Typically, the 26-year-old averages 250,000 new subscribers every single day.

While MrBeast hasn’t broken the record for most subscribers gained in a single day on YouTube, he does lay claim to several records.

For example, Donaldson holds the record for the most subscribers gained in a week, month and year.

And with the money MrBeast splashes on each video, it’s a good job he’s on top of the YouTube tree.

Speaking at a podcast event with the All-In Podcast, he confirmed that each video costs around the same as making an independent film.

When asked what the budget was for each video, MrBeast replied: “I think now it is around $2.5 million each video.”

“I don’t think it’s that crazy though,” he continued.

“Because then they’re getting a hundred million views in seven days.

“So, in any other media, outside of social media, that got that kind of viewership their budget would be like 50 times that.”

Certainly a lot of dollar, but the content creator definitely reaps the rewards.

He explained that he brings in about $600 million to $700 million a year but despite this massive amount, still doesn’t consider himself rich.

“I mean, not right now,” he said.

“I’m not naive; maybe one day.

“Each video does a couple million in ad revenue, a couple million in brand deals.”

He added: “I’ve reinvested everything to the point of—you could claim—stupidity, just believing that we would succeed. And it’s worked out.”

Most disliked YouTube video of all time has more than 20,000,000 dislikes

Most disliked YouTube video of all time has more than 20,000,000 dislikes

YouTube has now removed the function, but prior to that one video had the honour of being the most disliked video on YouTube

Back before YouTube removed its dislike function there were plenty of videos that managed to go viral for all the wrong reasons.

Previously viewers had two options for how to react to a video if they wanted to express their thoughts on it.

There is of course the like button, but if viewers felt strongly enough they could also opt to dislike a video.

It takes a barely surface-level knowledge of the pit of abyssal horrors that is the internet to immediately see why this might not be the best idea.

In an era where the undersides of digital bridges see trolls packed in elbow to elbow, with many of them AI accounts, having a way to dislike something is asking for trouble.

But before its eventual removal, the announcement of which itself got tens of thousands of dislikes, there were several videos which got the dubious honour of being the most disliked video on YouTube.

So what were they? Let’s do the top five.

Johny Johny Yes Papa

Well in number five we have Johny Johny Yes Papa, a music video for children which apparently really rubbed people up the wrong way and was disliked 11,954,000 times.

Incidentally, an alarming number of the videos featured on the 42 most disliked videos are aimed at children.

Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’

In fourth place we have the music video for Justin Bieber‘s song Baby, which weighed in with 12,476,000 dislikes.

The video was definitely not well-received. (YouTube)

Sadak 2 trailer

Third place is the trailer for Bollywood film Sadak 2, which saw 13,667,000 dislikes.

The trailer was inundated with dislikes as a huge collective protest against nepotism in Bollywood after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Fans believed that Rajput’s mental state had deteriorated due to his being shut out of the industry, leading to his death by suicide.

Baby Shark Dance

In second place we have another music video for children, the Baby Shark Dance with 14,972,000 dislikes.

So, what is the most disliked YouTube video of all time?

Which brings us to the top spot – YouTube Rewind 2018: Everyone Controls Rewind.

This was the ninth instalment in the YouTube Rewind Series and was shared to the platform’s own official account.

It featured several prominent YouTubers as well as mainstream celebrities such as Will Smith and Trevor Noah.

But what was it that got the video so panned?

It was criticised for using trends which were seen as either outdated or unpopular, and not having rivalries such as KSI vs Logan Paul and PewDiePie vs T-Series.

As for the number, when YouTube removed the feature publicly it had clocked up a whopping 20,358,000 dislikes. Yikes.

Cristiano Ronaldo destroys YouTube records by hitting 20 million subscribers in just 24 hours

Cristiano Ronaldo destroys YouTube records by hitting 20 million subscribers in just 24 hours

MrBeast may be in for some unwanted competition from arguably the most competitive man to ever live, Cristiano Ronaldo

Is any record safe from the hands of this man?

If you like soccer, or even if you don’t like the sport, you’ll have heard of Cristiano Ronaldo – he’s what Tom Brady is to football.

While, and I might get in trouble in the comments for saying this, Messi is the better soccer player – Ronaldo brings that wow factor.

For the last two decades there have been arguments over who out of the two is the greatest player to grace the pitch. While some claim the title is Diego Maradona’s or Pele’s, I personally think the Inter Miami Argentine takes the cake.

But all good things come to an end, they dominated the scene from 2008 until 2023, and now it seems CR7 is casting his eyes on records away from sport.

In soccer, he holds over 100 records – 18 of them are world records, while the remaining are split between European records, the different leagues he’s played in and club records too.

Now, MrBeast has someone breathing down his neck as he absolutely destroyed the record he set on YouTube by gaining 20 million subscribers in just 24 hours.

According to a fan account dedicated to the sporting icon, it took philanthropist Jimmy Donaldson, aka MrBeast, 132 days to reach 10 million subscribers, at which point he became the fastest YouTuber to reach the milestone.

Ronaldo did it in less than 12 hours.

He did generate that many subscribers in that time but… technically it took him 44 days to hit 10 million subscribers, as his account was created on July 8 – although, that’s still impressive.

But I guess the team behind his YouTube channel, which is titled ‘UR – Cristiano’ with the handle @cristiano, needed 43 days to get it up and running before showcasing Ronaldo to the world.

In just over a day he has generated more than 40 million views on the 12 videos he has already uploaded, and they’ve given a great insight into his life, his family and his mindset.

Despite him having a dozen videos in his content library already, there is only a combined watch time of just over 16 minutes.

But they are all snippets of what we can expect to see from him.

But can he really challenge MrBeast’s dynasty that dates back as far as 2012?
