Netizens and fans were thrilled when they discovered that a major country musician would be headlining 2025’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve event. The fan-favorite artist revealed that her performance would take place just before the ball drops in Times Square.
On December 5, 2024, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and ABC announced some of the musicians who will be performing on December 31 via their Instagram accounts. They revealed that the legendary country music star Carrie Underwood will be taking the stage this year to usher in the New Year.
Meghan Moroney and Sophie Ellis-Bextor were also announced as performers for the Times Square event, which will air live on ABC at 8/7c. Taking to Instagram, X, and Facebook with images of herself and the show’s host, Ryan Seacrest, Underwood confirmed her participation.
She wrote, “✨ I’ll be closing out 2024 as I perform LIVE from Times Square on @RockinEve just before the ball drops! 🪩” The vocalist ended her message by expressing excitement about closing the year with Seacrest.
Underwood’s fans couldn’t contain their joy at the announcement. One Instagram user commented, “[The] best way to end the year and even better to begin a new one! ❤️.” Another exclaimed, “YES! FINALLY! Somebody worth watching !!”
Another fan remarked, “What a great ending to 2024 and an even better beginning to 2025!” while someone else added, “About time someone well worthy of closing the year🤷🏻♀️.” One netizen expressed, “Finally, a reason to stay up and watch the ball drop.”

The Rockin’ Eve event has already begun counting down to the big occasion and the arrival of 2025 on its website. A few days before revealing Carrie Underwood and the other two female musicians as performers, the event announced some of the other stars scheduled to perform.
The event confirmed that fans could look forward to seeing Cody Johnson, Lenny Kravitz, Teddy Swims, Thomas Rhett, and Tinashe, with more to be announced. Rita Ora was named as a co-host alongside Seacrest.
Dayanara Torres was announced as the Puerto Rico co-host for the event. Sharing the news, Torres wrote, “I’m so excited to share that I’ll once again be co-hosting the @RockinEve celebrations from Puerto Rico,” while reposting the announcement.
