 Ingredients:
Chocolate Cake:
• 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
• 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp salt
• 2 cups granulated sugar
• 2 large eggs
• 1 cup whole milk
• 1/2 cup vegetable oil
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 cup boiling water
Chocolate Frosting:
• 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
• 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 4 cups powdered sugar
• 1/4 cup whole milk (plus more if needed)
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
 Directions:

1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. Make the Chocolate Cake: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the sugar, eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed until smooth. Stir in the boiling water (the batter will be thin). Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
3. Bake the Cake: Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
4. Make the Chocolate Frosting: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Add the cocoa powder and beat until well combined. Gradually add the powdered sugar, alternating with the milk, and beat until smooth and fluffy. Stir in the vanilla extract. If the frosting is too thick, add a bit more milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until you reach the desired consistency.
5. Assemble the Cake: Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a generous amount of frosting on top. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake, including the sides, until smooth. Use any remaining frosting to create decorative swirls or peaks.
6. Serve and Enjoy: Slice into this rich, chocolatey cake and enjoy with a cold glass of milk or a hot cup of coffee!
