Ingredients:
For the Cake:
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened, plus more for greasing
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
2 teaspoons finely grated orange zest
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups almond flour
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup fresh orange juice

6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon unsalted butter

Directions:

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
Make Cake Batter: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the orange zest and vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, whisk together the almond flour, all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the fresh orange juice, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
Bake Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream and butter over medium heat until just simmering. Pour the hot cream mixture over the chocolate and let it sit for 1-2 minutes. Ice the Cake: Once the cake is completely cool, pour the chocolate icing over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides. If desired, garnish with orange zest and sliced almonds before serving.
