This Chocolate Pecan Ooey Gooey Butter Cake is a family favorite that never lasts long! My kids love the rich, chocolatey layers, and my neighbors always ask for the recipe. It’s the perfect dessert for any occasion—decadent, nutty, and irresistibly gooey!”
Ingredients:
For the Cake Layer:
1 package (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix
1 egg
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup chopped pecans
For the Ooey Gooey Layer:
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
4 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup chopped pecans
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Prepare the Cake Layer: In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, 1 egg, 1/2 cup melted butter, and 1/2 cup chopped pecans. Mix until well blended. Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Make the Ooey Gooey Layer: In another large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add 3 eggs, vanilla extract, and 1/2 cup melted butter. Beat until well combined. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing until smooth. Stir in 1 cup chopped pecans. Pour this mixture over the cake layer in the baking dish.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still slightly jiggly. Do not overbake; the center should be a little gooey.
Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan before slicing. Serve and enjoy the rich, chocolatey goodness with a unique texture that’s both cakey and gooey.
