Baked Crème Brûlée Donuts
Golden Baked Crème Brûlée Donuts with a Caramelized Sugar Crunch
Ingredients:
For the Donuts:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup buttermilk, room temperature
2 large eggs, room temperature
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Crème Brûlée Topping:
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Prepare the Donuts:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan or line with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold together until just combined.
Spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare the Crème Brûlée Topping:
In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract.
Heat over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens slightly.
Once the donuts are cool, dip the tops into the crème brûlée mixture, then sprinkle with additional sugar.
Use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar topping until golden and crispy.
Serve:
Enjoy these baked crème brûlée donuts fresh, with a perfect balance of soft dough and crunchy caramelized sugar topping.
