Donald Trump is reportedly set to revoke the temporary legal status of nearly 240,000 Ukrainians who fled to the US after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Trump presented his presidential speech to Congress earlier this week, where he revealed Vladimir Putin has provided ‘strong signals’ to the US for peace and detailed a letter received from President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy amid the ongoing war in Europe.
Just last week, the 47th POTUS accused Zelenskyy of ‘gambling with World War 3’, while Vice President JD Vance insisted that Zelenskyy was treating both Trump and the US with disrespect and persistently called on the Ukrainian to ‘thank’ the president.
And after Trump withdrew military aid for Ukraine earlier this week, the president is set to crack down on Ukrainians who moved to the US following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

As per a report by Reuters, a Trump official and three sources close to the president confirmed the move was happening, which could see 240,000 Ukrainians fast-tracked to deportation.
The outlet states the move could come as early as next month – something which would be a huge departure from Joe Biden’s response to the war.
The Biden administration increased the number of immigrants who can apply for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), a scheme that allows people to live and work in the US for a certain period of time.
It was used by 240,000 Ukrainians some three years ago after Vladimir Putin invaded their country.
As per Reuters sources, the impending move by Trump is part of his plan to strip legal status from more than 1.8 million migrants who entered the US under the Biden’s leadership.
When Zelenskyy was in the Oval Office last week, Trump accused Zelenskyy of ‘gambling with the lives of millions of people’ as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues.
“You’re gambling with World War Three, and what you’re doing is very disrespectful to the country, this country that’s backed you far more than a lot of people say they should have,” the president said.

The Ukrainian president later shared a statement in which he reiterated ‘Ukraine’s commitment to peace’ and made clear that no one wants an ‘endless war’.
He continued: “Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts.
“We are ready to work fast to end the war, and the first stages could be the release of prisoners and truce in the sky — ban on missiles, long-ranged drones, bombs on energy and other civilian infrastructure — and truce in the sea immediately, if Russia will do the same.
“Then we want to move very fast through all next stages and to work with the US to agree a strong final deal.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has issued a statement following his heated discussion with Donald Trump and JD Vance at the Oval Office today.
US President Donald Trump, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US Vice President JD Vance met at the White House’s Oval Office in Washington DC, earlier today (February 28).
Vance proceeded to accuse Zelenskyy of being disrespectful towards both the US and President Trump, telling him he ‘should be thanking the president’.
Have a listen to the heated exchange below:
In a clip from the meeting, the Ukrainian president reflects on how ‘during the war, everyone has problems’ and just because those in the US don’t ‘feel it now’ doesn’t mean they won’t in ‘the future’.
Trump then butts in, arguing he’s ‘trying to solve a problem’ and saying Zelenskyy is in ‘no position’ to tell them ‘what [they’re] going to feel’.
Raising his voice, Trump continues: “You’re in no position to dictate what we’re going to feel. We’re going to feel very good. We’re going to feel very good and very strong. You’re right now, not in a very good position, you’ve allowed yourself to be in a very bad position.
“You don’t have the cards right now. With us, you start having cards … You’re gambling with the lives of millions of people! You’re gambling with World War Three! You’re gambling with World War III. And what you’re doing is very disrespectful to the country – this country.”
As a Twitter user wrote: “Jesus F**king Christ! Watching Trump yell and demean the Ukrainian President is completely disrespectful. What a disgrace.”
And Zelenskyy has since taken to the social media platform to speak out following his visit to Washington, writing: “Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit.

His tweet continues: “Thank you @POTUS, Congress, and the American people. Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that.”
This comes after Trump issued a statement of his own, penning on his social media platform Truth Social: “We had a very meaningful meeting in the White House today. Much was learned that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure.
“It’s amazing what comes out through emotion, and I have determined that President Zelensky is not ready for Peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations.
“I don’t want advantage, I want PEACE. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace.”
Donald Trump has secured a minerals deal with Ukraine which he initially claimed could be worth a huge $1 trillion.
Negotiations between US and Ukrainian officials became frayed over the past few weeks, but Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal confirmed a deal had been agreed on Tuesday (February 25).
Last week, President Donald Trump accused Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of being a ‘dictator’ for turning down a proposal which would’ve yielded the US an estimated $500 billion in revenue – but didn’t include security guarantees for Ukraine.
The country was invaded by Russia in February 2022, with President Zelenskyy this week saying he’d resign from his post ‘in exchange for peace in Ukraine or NATO membership,’ CNN reported.
President Zelenskyy is expected to sign the agreement when he meets Donald Trump in Washington on Friday (February 28).

What does the mineral deal include?
Full details of the raw mineral deal has not yet been made public. However, speaking to Ukrainian TV, Prime Minister Shmyhal confirmed a clause for the US to ‘support Ukraine’s efforts to obtain security guarantees needed to build lasting peace’ is included, the BBC reports.
Meanwhile, Trump told press there would be a need for ‘some form of peacekeeping’ in Ukraine following any peace deal, but that would need to be ‘acceptable to everyone.’
Shmyhal revealed the ‘preliminary agreement’ will see an ‘investment fund’ to be set up for the reconstruction of his country.
Kyiv and Washington will manage the money ‘on equal terms,’ he added.
Trump himself previously claimed the initial draft deal could be worth around $1 trillion for the US.

What rare earth minerals does Ukraine have?
It’s estimated that some five percent of the world’s ‘critical raw materials’ are held in Ukraine, its Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Svetlana Grinchuk said in 2022.
These include deposits of lithium, titanium and rare earth metals; a group of 17 elements used in electronics and batteries as well as to build weapons, wind turbines and more.
The country owns reserves holding 19 million tons of graphite – a major component in electric vehicle batteries – which could be worth around $76 trillion.

This is based on figures from Jinsun Carbon which states one ton of natural graphite is worth up to $4,000.
Ukraine also boasts large coal, gas, oil and uranium deposits. Altogether, its raw materials are thought to be worth billions.
However, some of the country’s mineral deposits have been seized by Russia.

A body language expert has broken down a ‘powerful’ moment that he spotted after French president Emmanuel Macron interrupted US president Donald Trump to correct him when they sat down together for a press conference.
Macron joined Trump at the White House in Washington on Monday (February 26), just after the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and at a time when relations between the US and Europe remain fragile.
During the press conference, Macron showed support for Trump’s decision to establish a connection with Russian president Vladimir Putin as he said there was ‘good reason’ for the leaders to ‘re-engage’.
However, the French leader made sure to differentiate opinion from fact, as he interrupted Trump at one point to correct him on his claims about Europe’s support for Ukraine.
When Trump argued that Europe is ‘loaning the money to Ukraine’ and would be ‘getting their money back’, Macron stepped in to fact-check.
“No, in fact. To be frank, we paid. We paid 60 percent of the total effort,” he said.
Now, body language expert Darren Stanton has broken down that particular interaction, sharing his thoughts on how both Macron and Trump were feeling in the moment.
Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, he told UNILAD: “When Macron is seen interrupting Trump, he still has a lot of control in this situation and doesn’t show many signs of embarrassment.
“Trump let Macron speak when he interrupted him. Trump initially had his hands together, which indicates he was giving him the benefit of the doubt – he wanted to let Macron have his moment – before moving into a steeple gesture. This is a power move, where anyone using this gesture believes they are the most powerful person in the room.”

Stanton expressed belief that this subtle gesture from Trump was an effort from him to ‘prove he had control’.
The expert continued: “Trump also made a gesture with his hand. Macron then continued and put his hand on Trump as he corrected him, while Trump held his hand out to shake it, which really meant ‘yeah, whatever’. He was also seen nodding along and smiling while looking into the audience. Macron wasn’t holding the reins during this encounter. We anticipated Trump would be quite civil, but from his body gestures, it’s clear he didn’t agree with Macron.”
As Macron interrupted Trump, he explained that European nations provided ‘real money’ just like the US had, through a combination of ‘loans, guarantees and grants’.
Trump then told journalists: “If you believe that, it’s okay with me.”
Donald Trump has plans to sign a new executive order to make English the official language of the United States, according to multiple White House sources.
It would be a pretty historic move due to the fact that while English is the most commonly used language in the US, the country has never had an official language at the federal level.
During his presidential campaign, Trump raised concerns about migrant students who don’t speak English and were unable to communicate effectively with their classmates.

He said last year: “We have languages coming into our country. We don’t have one instructor in our entire nation that can speak that language.
“These are languages—it’s the craziest thing—they have languages that nobody in this country has ever heard of. It’s a very horrible thing.”
While during the 2016 presidential race, where Trump ultimately beat Hilary Clinton to The White House, the president slammed then Florida Gov. Jeb Bush for speaking Spanish while campaigning.
“This is a country where we speak English, not Spanish,” Trump said.
Well, as per a report by The Wall Street Journal, Trump is taking the steps to rescind a federal mandate issued by President Bill Clinton.
It made agencies provide language assistance to non-English speakers – something which is about to change, according to sources close to The White House.
While agencies are still able to provide these documents, the Wall Street Journal reports that the order would ‘promote unity, establish efficiency in the government and provide a pathway to civic engagement’.

It comes after the president met the British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer in Washington on Thursday (February 27).
Trump greeted Starmer as he arrived at The White House, in what has been dubbed an ‘awkward’ interaction.
Body language expert Adam Lyons, who commented on behalf of BetUS, spoke to UNILAD about this interaction and claimed the pair essentially locked horns in a game for dominance.
Lyons theorised: “Trump pushed his hand over on the handshake to ‘dominate’ and held it too long.. Starmer felt it and even moved his hand to the sleeve after it to ‘fix’ his clothing.
“Also Trump did a shoulder grab to assert dominance. And then Starmer tried to fight back by putting his hand on his shoulder too… but wasn’t able to get the leverage.”
