Canadian Premier has unusual request after warning he will shut off power to 1,500,000 customers in America

Premier of Ontario Doug Ford took the opportunity to ‘address something about his phone’ in a press conference.

With US President Donald Trump’s executive order imposing ‘catastrophic’ tariffs on China, Mexico and Canada having come into effect from March 4, Canada is fighting back.

Alongside Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau responding with counter-tariffs, Ontario Premier Doug Ford has threatened to shut off the power to 1.5 million US customers warning Canada will hit back ‘twice as hard’ against the US.

Despite acknowledging it’s ‘not’ the American people but Trump who is the problem, Ford doubled down on his warning to the country noting Canada will ‘use every tool’ in its ‘toolbox’ to ‘send a message to President Trump that [the tariffs are] the wrong thing to do’.

However, when it comes to another type of message, Ford has admitted he’s struggling.

Back in the good old days, most of us would’ve probably sent out a BBM broadcast to everyone, updated our status or sent out a mass text, but Premier Ford decided to address a certain issue he’s been facing with people contacting him non-stop during a press conference – no time like the present eh?

While the press conference was largely concerned with the tariffs being imposed on Canada by the US, Ford added at the end: “Before we wrap up, I want to address something about my phone.

“Folks, I pride myself on returning my calls, I have over 4,038 messages I’ve got to get back to. Please have patience with me, don’t get insulted if I don’t get back to you.

Ford explained he’s been receiving messages in their ‘hundreds, if not thousands’ every single day.

“And I cannot keep up. I am up until over midnight every single night,” he added.

And for the people who text the premier at night?

Well, Ford continued: “And for the people that text me throughout the night, please, wait until the morning time because I have to keep my phone on.

“And the four hours – I’m lucky if I get four hours – of sleep I get every night, all I hear is the buzzing beside me.”

He resolved: “So please, the reason I keep it on is for emergencies, incase there’s something happening catastrophic in the province.

“I respect you calling me, but please just have patience for me to get back to you. I’m doing everything I possibly can to get back to you on my cellphone.”

Canadian Premier says he will shut off power to 1,500,000 customers in America after Trump announced new tariffs

Doug Ford has warned he will shut off power to 1.5 million US customers amid Trump’s new tariffs

A Canadian Premier has claimed he will shut off power to 1.5 million US customers after Donald Trump announced controversial new tariffs.

Shortly after his return to the White House in January, President Trump signed off on an order imposing ‘catastrophic’ tariffs to ‘hold China, Mexico and Canada accountable for their promises to halt the flood of poisonous drugs into the US’ by placing 25 percent tariffs on goods imported from Canada and Mexico, and 10 percent on China.

The 47th POTUS explained how the only ‘solution’ for Canada to avoid the tariff is to become the US’ ‘cherished 51st State’.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in a statement released on Monday (March 3): “Today, after a 30-day pause, the United States administration has decided to proceed with imposing 25 percent tariffs on Canadian exports and 10 per cent tariffs on Canadian energy. Let me be unequivocally clear – there is no justification for these actions.”

An announcement released by the White House stated the tariffs are part of Trump ‘taking bold action to hold Mexico, Canada, and China accountable to their promises of halting illegal immigration and stopping poisonous fentanyl and other drugs from flowing into our country’.

The order states: “There is growing production of fentanyl in Canada, and enough fentanyl was seized at the northern border last fiscal year to kill 9.8 million Americans.

“Additionally, illegal border crossings from Canada reached historic new highs every year for the last four fiscal years.”

Ontario Premier Doug Ford, who won a third majority last week, said during news conference: “If they want to try to annihilate Ontario, I will do anything, including cutting off their energy — with a smile on my face.

“They need to feel the pain. They want to come at us hard? We’ve got to go back twice as hard.”

Ford told NBC: “We [Ontario] keep the lights on in 1.5 million homes and [in] manufacturing in New York, in Michigan, and in Minnesota.

“If he wants to destroy our economy and our families, I will shut down the electricity going into the US.”

And speaking during a mining convention in downtown Toronto on Monday, Ford doubled down on his initial claims.

As per the Toronto Sun, Ford said: “If they want to try to annihilate Ontario, I will do everything — including cut off their energy with a smile on my face.

“They rely on our energy, they need to feel the pain. They want to come at us hard, we’re going to come back twice as hard.”

He added: “That’s exactly what we’re going to do.

“The provinces have a big say in it, but it’s the federal government that’s leading the charge, and we’re going to stand shoulder-to-shoulder no matter who’s in the federal government.”

Donald Trump’s top advisor threatens to ‘redraw Canadian border’ in a move labeled ‘crazy and dangerous’

A source claims advisor Peter Navarro is ‘temporarily ruling the roost’ in the Oval Office

Donald Trump’s top advisor has reportedly threatened to redraw the border with Canada, a source claims.

On February 1, Donald Trump signed off on an order imposing ‘catastrophic’ tariffs on China, Mexico and Canada.

The 47th President of the US has since doubled down on his intentions to place 25 percent tariffs on Canada – suggesting the only ‘solution’ for Canada to avoid such a tariff would be to become a ‘Cherished 51st state’.

Trump’s tariffs are part of his plan to ‘take bold action to hold Mexico, Canada, and China accountable to their promises of halting illegal immigration and stopping poisonous fentanyl and other drugs from flowing into our country’.

“There is growing production of fentanyl in Canada and enough fentanyl was seized at the northern border last fiscal year to kill 9.8 million Americans,” the executive order claims.

The executive order places 25 percent tariffs on goods imported from Canada and Mexico and a 10 percent tariff on China.

While an American couple took it upon themselves to pay for everyone’s meal at a Canadian restaurant because they ‘hate’ what Trump is doing, senior counselor for trade and manufacturing for the 47th President of the US, Peter Navarro, seemingly has no interest in repairing relations at all.

A source has come forward telling The Telegraph the top advisor to the president is now recommending ‘revising’ the border between the US and Canada, the source branding such a suggestion ‘just crazy and dangerous’.

Cited as being ‘close to the negotiations,’ the source said Canada is now refraining from ‘negotiating’ with the US Government until two incoming members of Trump’s cabinet – Jameson Greer and Howard Lutnick – are confirmed by the senate.

The source continued: “Peter Navarro is in post, and he is taking advantage of being there by himself with no one else in post to challenge his extreme positions.

“This will change as soon as the many other trade and economic positions are filled.”

However, Navarro has spoken out to condemn another unnamed source who previously came forward claiming the US was in discussion about potentially pushing Canada out of the Five Eyes intelligence sharing network.

Navarro called the claims ‘crazy’ arguing the US ‘would never jeopardize [its] national security […] will allies like Canada,’ adding: “My view is that we should never have to comment on any story where it’s based on unnamed sources.”

Customers of a restaurant in Canada have spoken out in ‘shocked’ delight after an American couple paid for everyone’s meals.

Earlier this month, Donald Trump signed off on an order imposing ‘catastrophic’ tariffs to ‘hold China, Mexico and Canada accountable for their promises to halt the flood of poisonous drugs into the US’ by placing 25 percent tariffs on goods imported from Canada and Mexico, and 10 percent on China.

And it would appear an American couple decided to offer to pay for all customers’ meals at a Canadian restaurant as a bit of a consolation.

The White House stated in a release the tariffs are part of Trump ‘taking bold action to hold Mexico, Canada, and China accountable to their promises of halting illegal immigration and stopping poisonous fentanyl and other drugs from flowing into [the] country’.

“There is growing production of fentanyl in Canada, and enough fentanyl was seized at the northern border last fiscal year to kill 9.8 million Americans,” the order claimed. “Additionally, illegal border crossings from Canada reached historic new highs every year for the last four fiscal years.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau warned the tariffs would ‘have real consequences’ for ‘the American people’ and the White House‘s actions would ultimately cause a ‘split’ rather than ‘bringing us together’.

However, proving the rift may not cause a divide among citizens of both countries were an American couple and customers at Toast restaurant on Erie street in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

A couple named Sarah and Bill from Ann Arbor visited the restaurant and customers have since spoken out about them paying for everyone’s meals.

Aileen Ganley-Mutter was at the restaurant with her godchildren when the couple paid for everyone’s meals.

“We were all kind of shocked because that doesn’t happen, because there’s about 50 to 60 people in there,” she told CBC.

Despite customers trying to persuade the pair to allow them to chip in for the tip, they reportedly declined the offer saying it was ‘the least’ they ‘could do’.

“They said […] they weren’t going to stop supporting Canada and loving Canada, and they felt bad for the rift that it was causing, so it was just very generous,” Ganley-Mutter added.

Another customer at the restaurant, Irene Chyz, added how ‘taken aback’ everyone was and ‘just wonderful to experience it’.

And co-owner of the restaurant, May Hermiz, reflected she was ‘stunned’ because ‘nobody has ever paid for the whole restaurant’ in the nine years of it being a business.

She recalled: “Everyone was cheering. They were cheering them on and they were applauding.”

Hermiz added that the woman told patrons “she hates what the United States is doing to us and she doesn’t support it. And she’s so happy we won the hockey game and it’s a little token of appreciation for Canadians and how much she loves us and how much she loves supporting local.”

The kind gesture follows President Trump doubling down on his plan to instate a 25 percent tariff against Canada, with the president saying on Monday (February 24): “This is an abuse that took place for many, many years. The tariffs will go forward, yes, and we’re going to make up a lot of territory.”

“The only way for Canada to avoid such a tariff according to Trump is for the country to ‘become [the US’] Cherished 51st State’.

Donald Trump calls $5,000,000 ‘gold card’ a ‘bargain’ and is certain it will ‘sell like crazy’

The president believes the US could flog thousands of these new visas, while even saying suggesting Russian oligarchs are welcome

As President Donald Trump cracks down on illegal immigrants residing in the US, he’s offering migrants with enough money the opportunity to fast-track US citizenship.

On Tuesday (February 25), the Republican revealed plans that to introduce a $5,000,000 ‘gold card’ visa that effectively would grant immigrants with deep enough pockets the chance to legally reside, and work, in America.

The 78-year-old described it as working like a ‘green card privileges plus’ paper, and could be ready to launch within a fortnight.

Now, Trump has touched on the topic again, this time to members during the inaugural meeting of his Cabinet, stating that he is certain he’ll be able to flog thousands of them.

“I happen to think it’ll sell like crazy. It’s a market. But we’ll know very soon,” the president said.

“If we sell a million, that’s $5 trillion dollars.

“I think we will sell a lot because I think there’s really a thirst.”

US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick dubbed the option the ‘Trump gold card’ and slammed the current EB-5 visa as ‘full of nonsense and make-believe fraud.’

The EB-5 visa costs around $20,000, and stipulates overseas investors have to invest around a million dollars into a US company.

“We’re going to end the EB-5 program and we’re going to replace it with the Trump gold card,” Trump told reporters in his Oval Office on Tuesday (February 26).

Lutnick further revealed the ‘gold card’ will be reserved for ‘wonderful world-class global citizens’ and would go towards tackling the federal deficit.

Talking with journalists, he also teased it would offer a unique ‘route to citizenship’ that has ‘never been done before,’ adding: “They’ll be wealthy and they’ll be successful, and they’ll be spending a lot of money and paying a lot of taxes and employing a lot of people, and we think it’s going to be extremely successful.”

“You’re getting big taxpayers, big job producers, and we’ll be able to sell maybe a million of these cards, maybe more than that,” Trump continued. “It could be great, maybe it will be fantastic.”

The president claimed the loop-hole doesn’t need Congress approval, either.

“We don’t need Congress … It’s a path to citizenship, a very strong path to citizenship, but we’re not doing citizenship. For that I’d have to get Congress,” he said.

It would also be open to foreign investors from around the world, meaning it would be open to Russian businesspeople and oligarchs to apply for a gold card, providing they can cough up the $5 million fee.

“I know some Russian oligarchs that are very nice people,” Trump continued. “They’re not quite as wealthy as they used to be.”
