Fans have hit out at Travis Kelce after he told reporters it’s a ‘great honor’ to have President Trump in attendance at Sunday’s Super Bowl.
The Kansas City Chiefs will take on the Philadelphia Eagles at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, no doubt hoping to secure an unprecedented third consecutive Super Bowl crown – which would be their fourth in six years.
The Chiefs and Eagles last competed in 2023’s Super Bowl, where the former rallied for a 38-35 win.
But during a media briefing on Wednesday (February 5), Chiefs tight-end Kelce sparked confusion when he reacted to news that Donald Trump is attending the match.

When asked by reporters how he feels about Trump’s attendance, NFL star Kelce responded: “That’s awesome, it’s a great honour.
“No matter who the president is, I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life.
“Having the president there, it’s the best country in the world and that’s pretty cool.”
Kelce’s comments come months after his girlfriend, megastar Taylor Swift, and Trump clashed during the presidential election.
Swift made her support for Democratic Party leader Kamala Harris public knowledge on September 10, prompting Trump to say he was ‘not a fan of Taylor Swift’ during a Fox & Friends interview the following day.
He later took to social media platform Truth Social to vent that he ‘hated’ the singer.
Trump added that he liked Kelce ‘even though he may be a liberal and probably can’t stand me.’
Taking to X, fans were quick to question Kelce’s positive Trump comments, considering the previous fall-out.
One wrote: “Travis Kelce really saying all that like Trump didn’t run his girlfriend’s name through the mud lmao…”
A second agreed: “Travis Kelce gave a poor answer to the question abt trump being in attendance at the game.

“There were plenty of ways he could’ve avoided answering the question without saying it was an honor.” They added: “Trump is causing so much harm to marginalized communities, people are allowed to be upset.”
But a third defended: “No I don’t care that Travis Kelce said that it’s an honor to have the President watch him play because it’s the President and he’s a PR trained athlete for a team from MISSOURI.
“His answer was very direct, and he probably would have said the same thing if it wasn’t Trump.”
Kelce’s brother, former Eagles center Jason Kelce, confirmed Swift would also be cheering on the Chiefs at Sunday’s Super Bowl.
Elsewhere, Trump has praised Kelce’s team-mate, quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who also welcomed the announcement that Trump will be in New Orleans.
“I didn’t see that clip but obviously it’s cool to hear that he’s seen me play football and respects the game that I play,” Mahomes said. “It’s always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting president, someone in the top position in our country.”

In the aftermath, the NFL star was seen hyping up the crowds having burst into song, singing a line from ‘Get Down Tonight’ by KC and The Sunshine Band.
While some viewers called his post-game antics ‘cringe to the extreme’, mere moments later Swift could be seen hugging, kissing and chatting with Kelce while confetti swirled around them in a moment fans have dubbed as ‘wholesome’.
The footage uploaded to TikTok via the official NFL account has since gone viral as the singer seemingly whispered some sweet words of encouragement to her sportsman beau.
Fans on Twitter said they suspected Kelce told Swift: “I love you so much,” while Swift appeared to respond: “I love you. I’m so proud of you.”

“They are so in love,” one wrote. “You can just tell from all the pics and videos and how they look at each other.”
But others have been left reeling to know what else the pair whispered to each other among the chaotic celebrations.
Now, a lip reader has lifted the lid on what he believes could have been said between the loved-up couple.
Speaking to UNILAD, lip reader Jeremy Freeman said he suspected Swift was praising Kelce on his performance, saying: “That was stunning.”
Freeman said it’s difficult to tell what she says next but could be something along the lines of ‘you stopped the catch-up’, possibly in reference to the tight end’s performance in the game.
However, he believes Swift heaps on the praise even further, allegedly adding: “You were sublime. Out of this world. That was great.”
The sweet moment between the pair has gone viral across social media with many Swifties unable to contain themselves.
Afterwards, the pair were seen in an embrace as they left the stadium with Swift jumping up and down with excitement ‘like a little kid’.
“She’s literally jumping for joy”, one fan commented. “Too cute.”
Footage also later emerged of Kelce dancing in the locker room with his teammates while Swift posed for pics with Macie Bozeman, the wife of lineback Swayze Bozeman, and Layla Murray, who is dating Matt Araiza.
The Chiefs will now take on the Philadelphia Eagles at this year’s Super Bowl in New Orleans on February 9.

For his part, Kelce indicated he got too caught up in the drama of the game, explaining: “I wanted the score to be different. Coach has asked us to speak our minds and I just wanted to let him know how much passion I had for this team.
“I got the greatest coach this game has ever seen, he is unbelievable.

In his own post-game interviews with the media, Reid insisted there was no hard feelings and said he loved the passion from Kelce.
Reid told journalists, as reported by ABC: “He caught me off balance. I wasn’t watching.
“He was really coming over [and saying], ‘Just put me in, I’ll score. I’ll score.’
“So, that’s really what it was. I love that.”

After watching the footage of Kelce at the game, body language expert Judi James shared her thoughts on what the encounter really says about Kelce.
Previously speaking to UNILAD, James explained that Swift’s ‘fan-girl’ displays at games indicate that she sees Kelce as ‘some kind of personal superhero’, asking: “How might she feel if she’s watched her guy throw what looks like a major temper tantrum?
“And if the tables were turned and he watched her run off stage to push and scream at a 65-year-old member of her entourage, how would he be feeling?”
“It would at the very least be a book mark moment in any relationship that appeared to have legs in terms of marriage,” James continued.

“Emotions do run high in sports but this off-the-pitch behavior on an older man who not only does not look like the fittest guy out there but who is also rendered oblivious thanks to his headphones is not a good look.”
Addressing Kelce’s body language specifically, James said his encounter with Reid suggests ‘real anger’.
“The veins on his forehead are bulging, his face looks red and his mouth is wide open, with the jaw dropped as he shouts,” she said.
“He is using an intense eye-stare combined with proximity, i.e his head is right up close to the coach’s.
“He even crouches to manage this proximity with the shorter man. As he shouts his left hand seems to go in towards the coach’s arm, which pushes or renders him off-balance.

“Kelce’s expression looks ugly as he curls his hand into a fist that jiggles at crotch-level and as another player arrives to pull him, he still appears to be shouting as he walks away.”
Noting that Swifties often praise Kelce for being a ‘true gent’ and for being ‘protective’ of the singer, James went on: “He’s such a big guy he’d need to be playing to the ‘gentle giant’ stereotype rather than a big guy who can lose it at times.
“Hopefully this was a one-off blip in a sea of solid emotional calm.
“But like all unveiled behaviors during the early days of any serious relationship it’s probably better placed in the file marked ‘new partner profile’ than forgotten about altogether.”
Reid himself brushed off the incident with Kelce in a post-match press conference, where he implied the outburst was evidence of the player’s passion for his team.
“The part I love is that he loves to play the game and he wants to help his team win,” Reid said. “It’s not a selfish thing, that’s not what it is, and I understand that. So as much as he bumps into me, I get after him and we understand that.”
Kelce also responded, telling ESPN that he was keeping what was said ‘between us’ but called Reid ‘the greatest coach this game has ever seen’, adding that he ‘just loved him’.
Despite fans’ concerns about Kelce, Swift made clear that she was still head over heels for the footballer as she embraced him following his win.
Taylor Swift is doubtful to make an appearance at the Super Bowl day party with her boyfriend, but it isn’t for the reason you might think.
After a historic Super Bowl that saw a late comeback win for the Kansas City Chiefs over the San Francisco 49ers it is time to celebrate.
And the Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce has more than a couple things to be happy about – a great performance and his third Super Bowl title.
With his girlfriend, pop star Taylor Swift, there to support him at every opportunity by coming to the games and the Super Bowl itself, you would think the pair would be walking hand in hand to the upcoming Super Bowl championship parade.
But this is highly unlikely.
Now, Kelce faced some flack from Swifties for his behavior during the game, with a video of him screaming in the face of his coach going viral.
Some even marked it as a ‘red flag moment’ and called for the pop singer to dump the athlete.
Well, for those wishing for a split, this isn’t the reason why Swift isn’t likely to attend the Valentine’s Day parade set to embark through the local streets on Wednesday.

The parade will begin downtown at 11 am local time and will last approximately 90 minutes, organizers announced Monday.
Swift, however, is expected to be gearing up for a show on the other side of the world.
The ‘Cruel Summer’ singer is set to perform in in Melbourne, Australia, which is 17 hours ahead of Kansas City.
She will be in the country for the first of three scheduled concerts on her Eras Tour, and the flight itself takes about 17 hours.
The Aussie concert isn’t on Wednesday, but Friday. Though, due to the preparations and travel time, it is unlikely the star will be able to enjoy the parade and jet off for the concert.

But hey, maybe Swift is more prepared than we think and is going to be at the parade with her private jet waiting on standby to zip her across the world just in time to hit the stage!
As well as the parade, the Chiefs are expected to take the customary trip to the White House – though it’s not clear whether Swift will be available for this either.
