Nikki Glaser receives backlash after controversial Diddy joke at the Golden Globes

Golden Globes hosts are famous for roasting the audience.

Ricky Gervais was arguably one of the most ruthless awards hosts, and reprised his hosting duties on numerous occasions.

Comedian Jo Koy hosted last year’s Golden Globes though, and this year Nikki Glaser has stepped up to the role.

The 40-year-old is the first woman to host the ceremony solo.

She took aim at a handful of celebrities during the show, Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez included.

But it’s a joke she made about Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs this evening that raised some eyebrows.

While addressing Zendaya, who has sparked engagement speculation this evening, Glaser said: “Challengers girl, oh my god, it was so good. I mean, that movie was more sexually charged than Diddy’s credit card.

“I mean, seriously? Oh, no, no, I know, I’m sorry. I’m upset too. The afterparty is not going to be as good this year, but we have to move on. I know ‘Stanley Tucci Freak Off’ just doesn’t have the same ring to it.”

People took to Twitter to share their opinions on whether they found the Diddy quip amusing or not.

“We really don’t need jokes about him,” someone said of the disgraced rapper.

A second wrote: “No Diddy jokes please… Come on…”

“Ugh, you can’t make it past any award show without the host making a distasteful joke,” added another Golden Globes viewer.

Others labeled Diddy-related jokes as ‘tired’.

The ‘I Need A Girl’ rapper is facing numerous charges ranging from rape to racketeering.

He’s currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York as he awaits his trial.

Resurfaced video of Diddy telling children to put toy ‘down pants’ is leaving people horrified

Diddy made the comments during an appearance on the Nickelodeon show All That

The raids were conducted in relation to an ongoing investigation into sex trafficking, with HSI saying it will ‘provide further information as it becomes available’.

Attention on Combs has only continued to increase in the wake of the raids, prompting an old clip of him appearing on All That to resurface online.

Combs appeared on the show in 2002, when he played himself in a clip which featured two boys attempting to wake up their friend, child star Shane Lyon.

In the clip, the friends bang symbols and pour a bucket of ‘sour milk’ on Shane, but their efforts to wake him prove futile.

At a loss, one of the boys asks: “What would P Diddy do?”

It turns out this isn’t a hypothetical question, as they then walk over to find the rapper himself lying on a sunlounger, with a magazine in hand and a cocktail on the table next to him.

After checking the boys had already tried symbols and sour milk, Combs produces a toy helicopter and hands it to the young actors.

“Tell you what, take this toy helicopter,” Combs says, adding: “Put it down his pants.”

The friends willingly follow his suggestion, only to return when Shane continues to sleep soundly.

With a smile on his face, Diddy then hands the boys the controller for the helicopter. The boys begin to fly the toy, prompting Shane to jump up, screaming.

The clip was accompanied by laughter at the time, but viewers have been left uncomfortable while watching the clip back now.

Diddy told the kids to put the toy down their friend's pants.

“Nah thats actually crazy,” one X user wrote after watching the clip.

Another commented: “Wth? This was a show for kids. These people are so repulsive.”

After the raids, an attorney for Combs provided a statement in which he made clear that the rapper was ‘never detained but spoke to and cooperated with authorities’.

“Despite media speculation, neither Mr. Combs nor any of his family members have been arrested nor has their ability to travel been restricted in any way,” he said.

UNILAD has contacted representatives for Combs and Nickelodeon for comment.

Controversial horror film about the devil that feels like you're in the room makes $666,666 at box office

Controversial horror film about the devil that feels like you’re in the room makes $666,666 at box office

It’s a hit at the box office, but some people are furious about its use of AI.

A satanic horror film steeped in controversy has summoned a shocking $666,666 at the box office on Sunday – and we are officially freaked out.

The movie, which features a late-night host inviting a young girl who claims to be possessed by the devil on to his talk show, was stirring up controversy even before the creepy box office total.

Beyond the obvious – people somewhere start yelling anytime the devil is featured in a film – the devil-focused movie has also caused an upset surrounding its use of AI.

The film features a teenage girl who may be possessed by a demon.

IFC Films

The movie, called Late Night with the Devil, has been criticised online after the directors admitted to using generative AI for images in the film.

Speaking to Variety, they said: “We experimented with AI for three still images which we edited further and ultimately appear as very brief interstitials in the film.”

While the three images only appear very briefly, it has still led to a huge backlash online, with film TikToker @cinema.joe saying: “The question becomes, where do we then draw the line with generative AI in movies, if we allow three, then why not four? Why not five? Why not the background? Why not the music, or background actors?

“If we don’t put our foot down on zero, what kind of message are we sending.”

He goes on to say: “I really like Late Night with the Devil, and it sucks that this one decision made by a few people is affecting this really talented cast and crew.”

This has led to the film being review bombed on Letterboxd, with four of the top five reviews on the platform being negative reviews citing AI (and the fifth was someone wishing this movie would happen to Jimmy Kimmel).

Whilst many fans have spoken out against the use of AI – the film has still had an overwhelmingly positive response.

A $2.8 million opening weekend in the US, including the supposed $666,666 on the Sunday, has seen the film debut at number six, a massive achievement for an indie horror film dropping at this time of year.

Late Night with the Devil is a found footage film which will make you feel like you’re in the room, with a creepy premise and brilliant acting.

Late Night with the Devil, despite the controversy, is a brilliantly made horror film.

IFC Films.

One fan posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) said: “LATE NIGHT WITH THE DEVIL had me grinning until credits.

“Rarely do horror films fill a cinema with laughter, gasps, smirks and genuine moments of fantastic, practical gore.

“I understand the AI criticism, but what an original. Five stars, [David] Dastmalchian is a leading man for sure.”

Posting on Letterboxd, Mike Flanagan, director of Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Hill House was effusive in his praise of the film.

He said: “Was lucky enough to see this ahead of its theatrical release. David Dastmalchian carries this atmospheric and riveting real-time horror broadcast with a wonderful performance.

“The only other movie I can think of that is this is remotely comparable to is GHOSTWATCH. Highly recommended!”

While we’re still not too sure we trust that the film made $666,666 – it certainly has had us wondering… what if?…

Extremely gory first trailer drops of controversial The Crow remake

Extremely gory first trailer drops of controversial The Crow remake

Film fans have expressed excitement for the upcoming remake of the 1994 film The Crow after the trailer drops online.

This time around, the film will be led by Bill Skarsgård – who’s also set to appear in the Nosferatu remake this year – and FKA twigs and is due to be released on June 7 this year.

Both the remake and the original 1994 film are based on the graphic novel by James O’Barr, however the original has long been marred in controversy – with lead actor Brandon Lee killed during the filming of the movie.

As part of the story, Lee’s character is meant to walk into his apartment to discover his fiancé being beaten and raped. One of the perpetrators is then meant to shoot Lee.

Lionsgate

However, when filming, when a prop gun was fired, a lead tip of a bullet from a previous scene was in the barrel of the gun and ruptured a major blood vessel when the blank was fired.

Regarding the new film, while some fans have admitted to being excited others have been more apprehensive.

“Am watching it! I love me some Bill Skarsgård & the trailer looks promising,” one user wrote.

“DO NOT THREATEN ME WIT A GOOD TIME! One of my favorite movies of all-time,” another excited fan added.

Some fans have admitted to being excited others have been more apprehensive.

Lionsgate

“It actually looks intriguing and better than I thought it would. Bravo!” commented another.

However on the flipside, one less than impressed viewer wrote: “Why does the Crow look like Machine Gun Kelly dressed up like Florida Joker?”

“The only thing this trailer accomplished was making me want to watch the original,” added another.

A third wrote: “The original had a really gritty look to it, and while this has ultra violence it looks like, it kind of screams more John Wick than Crow.

“Part of the Crow is that he’s literally supposed to be a dead guy. Instead this just comes across as a dude with powers that can’t die.”

But I suppose we will have to wait and see if the film can live up to the lofty expectations of some fans. According to some, this remake has big shoes to fill.

Tom Brady snaps at Jeff Ross over Robert Kraft massage joke at Netflix roast

Tom Brady snaps at Jeff Ross over Robert Kraft massage joke at Netflix roast

Despite signing up for a roasting, there was one comment by Jeff Ross which pushed the former NFL player too far

Netflix’s The Greatest Roast of All Time saw Tom Brady roasted to an inch of his life but one comment by Jeff Ross pushed him too far.

On Sunday night (May 5) the American football quarterback took to the stage at the live event and allowed the likes of former coach Bill Belichick, Kim Kardashian and fellow New England Patriots player Julian Edelman to rip into him, however, there was one joke from stand-up comedian Ross that saw Brady rise to his feet in protest.

Prior to the show, Brady spoke out about his preparation for being completely rinsed.

He said: “It’s like a football game. You run with a game plan, and then you get to see kind of how the strategy goes, and then you adjust on the fly. This is what a locker room has been like for me for all these years. So it’s not like I’m used to people not making fun of me.”

Host Kevin Hart also noted no topic was off limits however, it would appear there was one roast which took it too far for Brady.

During the live show, Ross took to the stage to give as good as he’s got – I mean, he is known as the Roastmaster General after all – but one quip didn’t land well with the former NFL player.

It didn’t take long for Ross to dive into Brady’s career as a quarterback, referring to a moment when Brady told owner of New England Patriots Robert Kraft he was the ‘best decision’ the organization had ‘ever made’.

Ross then added: “Would you like a massage?”

The comedian’s mention of a massage refers to two charges of soliciting prostitution Kraft faced back in 2019 which saw him accused of paying for sex at a massage parlor in Florida. At the time, Kraft pleaded not guilty and issued a public apology. The charges against him were later dropped.

Ross’ mention of it was the one roast during the whole comedy show which Brady drew the line at, the former quarterback seen rising from his seat at the side of the stage and walking over to Ross to tell him: “Don’t say that s**t again.”

Before moving swiftly on, Ross responded: “Ok. Okay. He’s having fun, look at him. I love what you do for the Jews, Robert Kraft. You’re incredible.”
