Beyoncé Wins First Country Music Honor at Billboard Music Awards
Beyoncé has fully adopted the moniker “Cowboy Carter,” achieving her first victory in country music at the Billboard Music Awards after being disregarded by the Country Music Association.
The singer-songwriter received the Top Country Female Artist award at Thursday’s gala, signifying her first accomplishment in the country genre. She received nominations for Top Dance/Electronic Artist and Top Country Album but was defeated by Charli XCX and Zach Bryan, respectively. This triumph elevates Beyoncé’s total Billboard accolades to 17, with further victories anticipated as the Grammy Awards approach in February.
Her “Cowboy Carter” project garnered 11 Grammy nominations. The BBMAs may provide some affirmation for Beyoncé’s efforts in country music, particularly after her previous snubbing by the CMA Awards this year.
In response to the exclusion, Billy Ray Cyrus supported her, asserting that she did not need a CMA award to validate her status as a country artist, while Dolly Parton emphasised the considerable talent present within the genre.
