Fans are defending Hailey Bieber against intense backlash after her husband Justin found himself in hot water last week.
The Canadian musician caused controversy with his latest Instagram post featuring the couple’s son Jack Blues Bieber, who they welcomed back in August 2024.
Despite largely keeping the little one out of the spotlight, on Thursday (29 May) Justin decided to share a carousel of snaps from life recently as a first-time dad.
However, some fans were left unimpressed with one particular detail in the social media post, with Hailey also picking up some criticism, despite not featuring in the post herself.
The hitmaker was seen smoking with some friends in one picture, while another sees him sitting in what looks like the same location with baby Jack.
Some assumed the cigarette was marijuana – which is legal in California, where Bieber spends most of his time.

One advised the star: “Don’t smoke in front your kid.”
Another penned a lengthy message, beginning: “Children are particularly vulnerable to health problems from exposure to smoke, including both cigarette and marijuana (pot) smoke.”
They added: “Even smoke that lingers on clothes or furniture (known as thirdhand smoke) can be harmful. So…maybe consider that. You’re a parent now. Act like one.”
Meanwhile, someone else took aim at Hailey, penning in the comments of one of her Instagram posts: “Stop leaving your baby with a bunch of guys who are high! Seriously, so irresponsible.”
Seemingly fuming, they added: “That poor kid. You know in many countries that child would have been taken away for safety reasons.”
Another joined in by quipping: “WHERE IS HIS MAMA? His mama should be doing the big mama thing and removing that child from this childish, unsafe behaviour.”
But, with the negative comments also came a slew of fans sticking up for the celebrity couple, and Hailey in particular.
Defending the Rhode founder and her husband, one user wrote on Instagram: “First off, there’s no blunt in his hand when his child is near. This is all speculation.”

They continued to point out the baby has ‘clearly been removed’ and ‘his mother could have picked him up and taken him to another location in the house’.
The fan quipped: “Everyone just needs to stop spinning a negative and let people live. This is what’s wrong with society, you’re not going to change anything talking this way.”
Another called out those taking issue with Hailey, insisting: “Let’s not blame the woman for the man’s behaviour.”
Agreeing, someone else chimed in with: “How about you hold the father responsible, why is it always the mother?”
Meanwhile, followers of Justin made sure to stick up for the singer as they made the important point that Jack doesn’t actually feature in any of the pictures that show Justin smoking.
Instagram users penned: “He wasn’t he was before the baby came outside” and “He’s not, it’s different moments clearly.”
Another fan of the father-of-one hit back with: “How about you worry about your own life, Karen”.
Meanwhile, a third chimed in with: “You don’t see that man smoking with his baby in NONE OF THESE PICS! Y’all say anything for attention.”
A fourth posed the question: “Where in the pic do u see him smoking directly next to the baby?”

Following the bombshell news that Blake Lively has filed a lawsuit against her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni, he’s now been been accused of using Hailey Bieber as an example in a Blake Lively ‘smear campaign’.
Late last week (21 December), the New York Times published the details of Lively’s legal complaint, which alleges Baldoni subjected her to sexual harassment and further alleges he attempted to launch a ‘social manipulation’ campaign.
The complaint also included a string of private text messages between publicist Jennifer Abel – who was hired by Baldoni as per the Daily Mail as well as crisis management expert Melissa Nathan – which have been revealed as a result of a subpoena.
The messages appear to detail a strategy to smear Lively’s reputation, devised by Baldoni, Abel, and Nathan.
In one exchange, which was dated August 4th, the complaint obtained by People last week (21 December) shows that Baldoni texted a screenshot of a post on X about Bieber which was titled ‘Hailey Bieber’s history of bullying many women’.
“This is what we would need,” Baldoni wrote, accompanying the screenshot.
Abel then replied: “Yes I literally just spoke to Melissa about this on the break about what we discussed last night for social and digital. Focus on Reddit, TikTok, IG.”

As per the complaint, on the same day, Abel sent a message to Nathan admitting: “I’m having reckless thoughts of wanting to plant pieces this week of how horrible Blake is to work with… Just to get ahead of it.”
“Same,” Nathan responded at the time, adding that one journalist friend of hers was ‘ready when we are,’ according to the complaint.
Alongside details of the lawsuit becoming public, Lively stated: “I hope that my legal action helps pull back the curtain on these sinister retaliatory tactics to harm people who speak up about misconduct and helps protect others who may be targeted.”
Legal representation for Baldoni has since responded.
Attorney Bryan Freedman said: “It is shameful that Ms. Lively and her representatives would make such serious and categorically false accusations against Mr. Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios and its representatives.”
Wayfarer Studios is a production company co-founded by Baldoni.

Freedman said Lively‘s suit was ‘yet another desperate attempt to ‘fix’ her negative reputation which was garnered from her own remarks and actions during the campaign for the film; interviews and press activities that were observed publicly, in real time and unedited, which allowed for the internet to generate their own views and opinions.’
He continued: “These claims are completely false, outrageous and intentionally salacious with an intent to publicly hurt and rehash a narrative in the media.”
He further stated that Baldoni ‘made the decision to proactively hire a crisis manager prior to the marketing campaign of the film’ due to ‘multiple demands and threats made by Ms. Lively during production which included her threatening to not showing up to set, threatening to not promote the film, ultimately leading to its demise during release, if her demands were not met.’

Lively’s lawsuit alleges that during filming, a meeting was held so that Lively could outline her demands to Baldoni, and that her husband Ryan Reynolds was in attendance.
As per the lawsuit, the demands included ‘no more showing nude videos or images of women’ to Blake, no more mention of Baldoni’s alleged previous ‘pornography addiction’, no more discussions about ‘personal experiences with sex’ in front of Blake and others, no more ‘descriptions of… genitalia’, no more inquiries about Blake’s weight, and no further mention of Blake’s dead father.

This just seems like the latest step in an explosion of hate directed at his wife Hailey after fans of singer and Justin’s ex Selena Gomez were convinced that the two women were feuding on social media.
There have been a series of TikToks and posts from both women which have been interpreted as swipes at the other, and the supposed ‘feud’ has exploded from there.
Sadly it’s now even spread into the real world, with the crowd of people seeing Justin appearing on stage and beginning to chant ‘f**k Hailey Bieber’ at him.

At this point, she can’t even wish her husband a happy birthday on social media without it becoming a lightning rod for some very unkind comments telling her she’s ‘not a nice person’ or that Justin ‘doesn’t love you’.
Quite what these people are getting out of trolling Hailey beyond being horrible to someone over the internet is unclear.
For those who aren’t up to date on the whole situation, there are fans of Selena Gomez, who dated Justin Bieber between 2010 and 2018, who really do not like Hailey for committing the apparently awful crime of getting into a relationship with someone who was single.
Hailey has had to explain before that there wasn’t an overlap between the time she was with Justin and the time the singer was with Gomez, but having things explained to them has sadly never really stopped internet trolls.
It should be noted that absolutely none of this is happening with the approval of Selena Gomez, who has told her fans they need to consider the mental health of others and show ‘kindness’.

We’d be here all day if we tried to explain the whole thing but it stems back to January this year when Gomez was body shamed over pictures taken of her.
Bieber later made a post which some people interpreted as connected to the body shaming, though Hailey denied the accusations being thrown at her and insisted that the now-deleted post was ‘not directed at anyone’ and it’s all spiralled from there.
Some people have even dug back through Hailey Bieber’s old posts on social media and discovered that back in the early 2010s, she was a big fan of both Justin and Selena, describing the pair as having ‘the perfect relationship’.

Hailey Bieber fans have rushed in to call out Kayne West after his furious online rant where he slammed the social media star.
The 46-year-old rapper took to Instagram to share his thoughts on his former collaborator, Adidas, alongside a bunch of fellow celebrities to his 20.2 million followers including Drake and his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian.
His comments come in response to his song ‘Carnival’ reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Many social media users didn’t seem all that surprised over the comments about Adidas, Drake and Kim – but the lashing out at Hailey definitely came as somewhat of a shock.
Now, for some context, Kanye was called out by Vogue‘s first-ever Black Editor, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, after he featured White Lives Matter t-shirts in his YZY fashion show at Paris Fashion Week back in 2022, which she said was ‘dangerous’ and ‘violent’.
Following her remarks, Kanye lashed out at Gabriella and said she was ‘not a fashion person’.
Hailey later posted a snap of the fashion editor on her Instagram account, writing: “My respect for you runs deep my friend! To know is to adore you and to work with you is an honour.
“The most kind. the most talented. The most fun. The most chic.”

In his most recent rant, Kanye began: “This number #1 is for you it’s for the people who won’t be manipulated by the system and f*ck Adidas and everybody who works there or with them.
“Anyone who goes to school with anyone who’s parents work as adidas. Just know they tried to destroy me and here we are with the number 1 song in the world.”
He went on to add: “F*ck everybody at the fashion houses that sided with Gabby and Hailey Bieber.
“F*ck each and every single one of y’all. That’s how I feel.”
The rapper then continued: “I’ll come back to y’all if I think of more f*ck you’s.”
Hailey’s fans have since taken to social media to share their responses to Kanye’s comments with one Reddit user writing: “I’m dead at the mention of Hailey Bieber lmao wtf did she do.”
A second penned: “Throwing out random names. I truly can’t imagine having someone like this to co parent with.”
“Need to know what is Kanye West’s beef with Hailey Bieber,” added a Twitter user.
Another asked: “Why did Kanye West diss Hailey Bieber?”
And a final Twitter user echoed: “So what‘s the beef with Hailey about?”
